Message from LPD regarding Sunset & Powderhorn

The following is a message from the Lakewood Police Department.

All Residents: The Lakewood Police Department would like to to say “Thank You” for your patience and cooperation during the last few weeks during the sewer pipe line project on Sunset Road at Powderhorn Drive.

The construction will continue along side of the roadway, but Sunset Road will remain open at all times. We truly appreciated your understanding in this matter.

    • You know, people’s comments are usually mild – a bit in this direction or that, but this seems quite sharp. Think about it; they’re installing sewer lines SO THAT PEOPLE LIVING IN LAKEWOOD WILL HAVE THE SERVICE!!! It’s to keep up with capacity. Now, obviously, the streets are the best place to run pipes – imagine if they ran under people’s houses – then you wouldn’t be talking about the politics of fake news, Then it would be like that story of the terrorists from Gaza digging under a house (and the dog used to jump around). So we have to be happy. Hazor’im bedim’a berina yiktzoru – one who goes through the sweat (tears) of toil will reap in joy (Tehillim/Psalms). (I see someone mentioned this already #10)

BTW, just to explain, the ‘water company’ building on Sunset is actually not for drinking water; it is a sewage pumping station which pumps the sewage out of Lakewood to treatment-plants further east. (That’s the path through the forest there – to Rt. 9 – the pipe line.) I suppose the pipes being installed are to give greater capacity from the mains on main roads. I guess the main roads have enough capacity but not these.

  1. Thank you to whoever arranged it to be done during Bein Hazmanim. although there was many inconveniences but they were kept to a minimum except for the Friday when there was a gas main break on James. Which was beyond anyone’s control

  2. It is Monday morning. Sunset Rd. is only opened one way. You can come from Central Avenue, but you cannot drive down Sunset toward Central. Why are we constantly fed these untruths? When will we be able to go both ways?

  3. I don’t understand you people. You complain over and over how there’s no infrastructure to support all the new development, then when something is finally being done to improve utility capacity you kvetch about every little inconvenience. Have a little patience.

  4. Can someone please explain why Sunset is being torn up AGAIN for sewer work? It was less than 10 years ago that this was done and Sunset was closed off all summer then too. Why again? Just curious

  5. It was closed at 3:40

PLEASE do not advertise that it’ll be open, unless it’ll remain open.

If they close it (even for 15 minutes), it’s a huge inconvenience.

If I would know that it may be closed, I would not even head down that direction.

When you write “Sunset will remain open at all times” – that’s a disservice.

    TY

  6. With all the comments above I get one common issue. We need more through streets. More streets that create a grid so there is no one street that is a bottleneck. Stop building cul-de-sac Stop building streets that are too narrow, that don’t have enough room for parking on BOTH sides and wide enough to allow 2 cars to pass each other without having to dodge each other.
