Menendez: “I am deeply troubled by reports of Israeli military actions that resulted in the death of innocent civilians in Gaza”

Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee issued
the following statement on the latest developments in the escalating violence across Israel and Gaza:

“I am deeply troubled by reports of Israeli military actions that resulted in the death of innocent civilians in Gaza as well as Israeli targeting of buildings housing international media outlets. In response to thousands of rocket attacks fired by Hamas aimed at civilians, Israel has every right to self-defense from terrorists committed to wipe her off the face of the map. But no matter how dangerous and real that threat may be, I have always believed the strength of the U.S.-Israeli relationship flourishes when it is based on the shared values of democracy, freedom, pluralism, and respect for human rights and the rule of law.

“Given the complexity of Gaza’s densely populated civilian areas, and Hamas’s shameful record of exploiting that reality by hiding military assets behind the innocent, Israeli authorities must continue taking the conscientious practice of giving advance warning of its attacks to reduce the risk of harm to the innocent. I also believe there must be a full accounting of actions that have led to civilian deaths and destruction of media outlets. All political and military leaders have a responsibility to uphold the rules and laws of war and it is of the utmost importance for all actors to find ways to deescalate and reduce tensions. This violence must end. Any death of civilians and innocent Jews and Arabs alike is a setback to stability and peace in the Middle East.”

Was he not made aware that Israeli intelligence knew Hamas was running operations out of that building?

Do you also demand “a full accounting of actions that have led to civilian deaths and destruction” from the Hamas side ? Because this is the first statement I have seen from you on this conflict. Does the Democratic administration forward money to those who seek Israel’s destruction? Has the Biden administration been a contributing factor to the present situation? I have voted for you at every opportunity, and I hope you can clarify your stand on this issue.

This is the effect of the radical left pressuring the moderates to investigate the actions of a country under attack , that’s fighting back.

I am extremely confused. I am looking at the headline. How come the Senator is not deeply troubled by reports of hamas military actions that resulted in the death of innocent civilians in Israel??
Hamas is constantly using these little children in gaza as human shields. They are shooting their rockets into Israel straight from the apartments in Gaza where these little children live. This is no secret. Everyone knows this.

Vote him out!

Ummm….Israel does give advance notice before knocking out the building. Can’t wait to vote against you and all democrats in all forms in every election! May Hashem knock them all out in the next election.

During the first 6 days of this war, we saw many innocent civilians injured and also some were killed. Not even 1 Democrat made a comment at all.
Do your own research and you will see for yourself.
All of a sudden Israel was forced to bomb a specific area on day number 7 and I am sure that they gave that area a warning ahead of time to leave the area. Unfortunately, innocent civilians got hurt and some got killed unfortunately, but Israel tries it’s maximum not to harm civilians. Israel tries very very hard not to hurt innocent civilians. During a war, a mistake can happen.
How come the entire world is ignoring all the innocent civilians that got killed on the Israeli side????????????????????

Hey Bobby,
Did you mention a violation of international law and forget to state Hamas targeting civilians. Also Bob, why are “international media outlets” housed in the same building as Hamas. Do all the cooperations, organizations, and non-profits houses there have an annual brunch? One last thing Bob, if you are actually concerned about the many innocent Palestinians, which there no doubly are, why are you waking up now? The Palestinians are a victim of their own “leadership”, if you can call it that, for a half a century. Bobby, we’re smarter than that and know your true concerns……

1st of all, we need to treat him with respect. He not only sits on the committee, He’s the Chairman of the foreign relations committee.
Secondly, read the statement.
Then read it again slowly.
He kinda answers his questions himself. he knows Hamas hides behinds its citizens.
He’s asking Israel to go above & beyond.
Sounds like he’s trying to please the squad but he’s really on Israel’s side.
Hmmmmm, interesting.

Asking Israel to go “above a beyond” is the same as asking Israel to put more of their citizens in danger by allowing Hamas to continue improving their capabilities as this never ending conflict drags on and on.
Can the good Senator name even one of the thousands of rockets shot at Israel in the last century that was ever aimed at a military target? I didn’t think so.
Can the good Senator name one Arab leader in the last century who made any pretense at caring if any of their weapons hit non military targets?? I didn’t think so.
Senator, Stop with the double standard!!! It just causes you to lose any credibility you once had!

Read the word : Your reply no we will not respect anymore towards the Democrat Party who cheated on election on 2020 and everyone know that and they are destroying our freedom in State of Israel. They even warned the Palestine Citizen to get out of the building to avoid killing them. The Democrat don’t care and they blame Israel on Bais lies of murdering Terrorist people. “Stop Voting foe Democrat Party”

Sounds like he was pressured to make a statement and did the best he could by sticking in some real facts about their history of using civilians as shields. The sad part is that this country is run by “them” and we don’t even know who “they” are.

They installed Biden who says whatever “they” tell him to and Thai is another example of someone saying what he’s told to keep his job.

Even the most pro Israel democrats will in the end blame Israel and side with hamas.

I am deeply troubled that it took Bob 2500 missiles to comment
(Like where was he when the first bond hit)
I am deeply troubled that Hamas hides behinds citizens

I am deeply troubled that the AP knowingly chose to stay in a Building that houses Hamas and if they say they didn’t know they are liars

I am deeply troubled that Hamas attacks innocent people

I am deeply troubled by the fact that not one single elected democrat has condemned their colleagues who openly supporting hamas even on the house floor.

Anyone looking for some moral clarity just has to search US colateral damage on google. according to wikipedia by 2005 over 7200 civillians were killed in iraq primarily by US air and ground forces. according to some sources in all the recent wars over 300k civillians died from US / NATO air and drone strikes. even if our arab brothers exagerated a bit on the numbers , theres definitely collateral death by the good people in the US army. and i”ve yet to hear of them dropping leaflets around a target hours in advance warning civillians to leave the area…..
