Menendez, Booker Announce $18M to Help Combat Homelessness Across NJ; $331,764 for Lakewood

U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced $18,503,256 in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) to help public housing agencies across New Jersey combat homelessness.

The ARP allocated funding for Emergency Housing Vouchers to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness or for those attempting to flee domestic violence or human trafficking.

“The pandemic has taken an economic toll on our communities and has left many families struggling to pay the bills and make ends meet,” said Sen. Menendez. “Thankfully, the American Rescue Plan is delivering this much needed funding so that communities across New Jersey can increase safe and healthy housing options to support individuals and families who’ve found themselves without a home or on the brink of losing their home during the pandemic.”

“The coronavirus pandemic has exposed and exacerbated the serious housing crisis that is negatively impacting families throughout New Jersey and across our nation,” said Sen. Booker. “As we continue to battle this public health crisis, we must ensure that all New Jerseyans have access to safe and reliable housing.
