The Township has set May 27 for the annual Memorial Day parade – remembering the heroic actions of the men and women who have served in the military.
The Memorial Day parade will begin with a service at the town’s Red Square, at 9:45 AM, followed by the parade to the All War Memorial Amphitheater at Lake Carasaljo, North Lake Drive, where the Memorial Day program will take place.
To join the parade, you can contact the Township at 732-364-2500, extension 5200.
It would be nice if we can get a nice turn out this year. Its a shame that ppl don’t come out for an hour to honor our war veterans.
playgroups should be lining the street waving flags. its a shame that we can count on one hand latley how many ppl show up.
lets get the ppl out this year.
Hooray! Celebrating all the guys and gals that have, or currently playing a role in helping the U.S.A. stay strong and righteous.
Not to mention kicking off the summer! Thanks to all of you! Looking forward to saluting all of you.
Over the years I watched this event from its height to current day..I remember 30 years ago it was like the Macy’s day parade. I watched it slowly die out… I went last year..maybe 15 people watched the ceremonies… everyone else was in the parade… The idea of a parade..is a past belief… No one cares anymore..
I don’t think anyone knows what memorial Day is about. Let me put it simple, this is the day we set aside to pay homage to those that have given their lives to secure our freedom and way of life.
Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank the living members of the armed services for their past and present service.
It’s just another day of school and business in Lakewood. The town doesn’t care anymore.
