  1. There was a Time going to the Memorial Day Parade that Clifton Ave was laoded with Patrons to see the Parade no its a handful of people comming out to Support the Parade and it is impolite of alot of the Township residents not to Show the Support I as a township resident am Upset with the way this Town has Gone.

  2. TLS should let us see the Mayor’s face without the glasses. He served 2 tours in Iraq as well as being the current Mayor, and he should have a more prominent place in the photograph.

  3. I’m sure that most people would love to have come if they didn’t have to work! Not everyone gets the day off. I’m sure you are going shopping, who do you think is checking people out?

  4. I want to thank TLS for the video of the parade. As mentioned in a prior post, years ago the streets would have been lined with viewers and their children. The sidewalk across from the reviewing stand would be packed with people. What do I see in today’s video of the parade? A small token group of children. Hardly anyone else viewing the parade. There was hardly anyone at the amphitheater to listen to the speeches. Lakewood has 90,000 people living in it. Where is the support for the veterans who fought so that most of the towns residents would be free today?

  5. they are all by seder and work!! let us not forget the yeshiva does not give off for memorial day. maybe next year the parade should be after 2 pm!

  6. SHAME on the (moderated)! And Shame on the Scoop for editing out the rest of the community that marched in the parade and spoke at the end. VERY ONE SIDED!

  7. The parade was indeed beautiful and the speeches were tasteful. Lets not just sit and bash the event, be grateful for the many participants that have joined and marched in the hot sun as well as those who lined the street in support.

  8. Use to attend every year, but now to be honest when I see that very few of the residents do not honor those who serve and still either work or do not have off from schooling I find that very offensive to those who have given so much to protect liberty in this country

  9. To #’s 2 and 6 – Amen. To #7 – sorry this was an inconvience for you. Yes, lets change the time to suit your needs. I wish you would have told my grandfather WW1; My dad in WW2; my uncle, who lost his life at 18 years old in WW2 (I never had the pleasure of meeting him); and my brother who fought in Vietnam and came home badly wounded. Why, so all of us can have the freedom we do. And lastely, to #3, I was brought up to respect, not hate, anyone. I just thought it was sad that the people that “get the benefits” of living in a “free country,” don’t appreciate how it came about. I have many, many family/friends that have fought for your/our freedom; some didn’t make it home; a few did, but with a cost. What have you done? Again, it’s not about hate, it’s about appreciation and respect for the hard work our vets have done. Where would YOU be without them?

  10. If it was not for the men and women in ww2 there would not be 90.000 people in lakewood today, why did the schools take them to the parade, and tell them what it was all about. G_D bless AMERICA

  11. TO # 9 THE PARADE WASN ‘ BEAUTIFUL THERE WERE NOT AS MANY ORGINAZATIONS MARCHING IN THE PARADE AND THE SPEECH WAS CUT SHORT IN YEARS PASSED THERE WERE GUN SALUTE ‘S AND A HELICOPTER DROPPING OFF A WREATH IN THE LAKE AND THE CONTRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN MEN AND WOMEN IN ” ALL ” OF THE PASSED WARS THIS COUNTRY HAS FOUGHT TO KEEP THE CITIZENS AND NONE CITIZENS SAFE I NEED SAY NO MORE . AS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TOWN IT DOESN ‘ T HURT TO HAVE A DAY OFF TO CELEBRATE THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR YOU AND WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU IF IT WASN ‘ T FOR THOSE MEN AND WOMEN YOU WOULDN ‘ T HAVE A PLACE TO CALL HOME

  12. TO # 2 – I MARCHED TODAY IN THE PARADE AND HAVE SO FOR 30 YEARS I AM SORRY BUT THAT IS THE WAY I FEEL ASHAMED OF WHAT I HAVE SEEN IN THE YEARS PASSED

  13. TO # 8:
Are you normal??? You said: “…Shame on the Scoop for editing out the rest of the community”

TLS cannot possibly play the ENTIRE parade (which lasted way more than 7 minutes)

TLS showed a total of SIX MINUTES and FORTY THREE SECONDS of the parade!!

Maybe, he wasn’t there more than that! Anyhow, he’s doing us a service by showing us ANYTHING AT ALL!!

If you feel that he did not spend enough time recording & presenting clips of the parade, then get off your ……. and DO IT YOURSELF!

  14. to:16
    this is not communist Russia!!

That is what is so great about this country! You can actually be an American and live freely (as you wish) at the same time!!

  15. If I’m not mistaken, Memorial Day does not “honor the ones who served our country” as the title indicates. (That’s Veterans Day.) Rather it honors the brave soldiers who DIED defending our country and the freedoms we enjoy.

  16. I dont get why the jewish dont celebrate memorial day? if anything for what this country did and died for them.it is like a slap in the face like my grandfather said as he turns his head in his grave.

  17. I usually do attend the memorial day parade. This year I had a scheduling conflict and opted to go after wards. When I got there it was over.I apologize to all those who feel my presence was missed. Please don’t take it as a lack of gratitude.I give to VFW & DAV all the time and take this moment to thank all those who served here on TLS. I will note that perhaps if the parade took place place between 2:00 & 4:00 it would have a larger turn out.

  18. It was sad to see such a small turnout especially when placed in context with what demographically smaller neighboring towns accomplish.

  19. Many of our 90,000 residents do not consider themselves to be Americans. We have many undocumented people from various countries and others who are more concerned about their homeland than this country. I can understand the Yeshiva’s not recognizing Christmas as a holiday but for National Holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4, Veterans Day, etc., they should be closed. The children need to know our history and the reason for the holidays.
