  1. Why such a weak turnout from ‘unzerer’?Not everyone in Lakewood was learning or working at a job they couldn’t take off from at the time of the parade.Cholkim Kovod L’Malchus…Eliyohu Ratz L’fnay Achav.etc.All the more so we who owe so much Hakaras H’tov to it.I remember as a Bocher living in Kensington ,learning in Mir ,seeing both Rav Pam and Rav Shmuel Berenbaum having American flags up.What about us?

  2. I agree, I was there (just happened to be there, admittedly not on purpose ) When I thanked the men who served for their sacrifices they really appreciated it. Also, They noticed from the whole town of Lakewood no “white shirts” thought it important enough to come. Besides Hakoros Hatov for the country we live in and that they gave their life to protect our rights to openly be Jews, some of these old men literally saved our grandparents and are the Shlichim that we are even here today.

Why is that we kiss-up to politicians (see other posts here) officially because of “Hakoros Hatov” but I did not see anyone of these people who are usually front and center at other “Hakoros Hatov” events thanking these veterans (who by the way, realized that no one showed up (I heard them)) . What is it? these old men can’t put anything into your pockets now.

It leads me to think (not news to some)that attending these other events have more to do about how they can enrich themselves than “Hakoros Hatov”.
