McKeon Praises Storm Response Efforts, But Urges Christie To Make Global Warming A Priority

Assembly Environment Committee Chair John F. McKeon (D-Essex) today praised the statewide storm response efforts while underscoring the bigger picture presented by Hurricane Irene. “I want to commend the Governor and all state, county and local officials for their extraordinary response to Hurricane Irene. But, I think the Governor is missing the big picture when it comes to global warming”, McKeon said.

“All across the country we’re continuously enduring more severe weather occurrences – droughts in the Southwest, repeated, historic river flooding, large tornadoes in the Midwest, and major melting at the polar ice caps”, he said.

“This is all the more proof why RGGI and the energy master plan, along with an aggressive renewable energy agenda, are needed to help New Jersey do its part to combat global warming”.

“Although we’re extremely lucky to have weathered this storm, we cannot lose sight of the big picture. New Jersey needs to be a part of the overall solution to global warming or Irene will merely be a prelude of things to come,” said McKeon. TLS.

  1. There is absolutely no real scientific evidence of global warming except for the hot air spewing from these politician’s mouths. Even insurance companies call these event’s “Acts of G-d”. There’s enough (moderated) from these special interest politicians to create more fiscal problems than any natural disaster. That is except for Al Gore whose wallet became so fat from promoting this agenda he no longer fits in his gas guzzling Escalade or private jet. Become critical thinkers and do the research. Global Warming is political hot air. Hot enough to burn this (once great) country down. Period. Exclamation point.

  2. Here come the Democrats again! If RGGI is made law your electric bills will quadruple!!! and anything that takes electric to make will go up in cost! It is a tax on top of a tax, it will stifle any chance of economic recovery. This RGGI and Obama’s plan for $5 a gallon price will kill this country. The Governor was right to stop it. If you don’t believe me read the RGGI plan.

  3. A mr Mckeon, after this winter,I wish there was global worming!!!I’m not sure where you were this past winter. The snow on my lawn practically just melted!!!!

  4. Its mindblowing how misinformed #1 and #2 are. Global warming is real. Look at the facts that scientists who don’t have a certain agenda provide. The artic ice caps are melting at a fast rate and earth is at its warmest since the last ice age. Those are facts you can not dispute.

  5. Hashem has sustained the world until now and He will continue to sustain the world whether Al Gore and the rest of the (moderated) Democrats like it or not. Al Gore is so full of himself and his obsessive mishugassen that his wife divorced him.
In the future, TLS, please refrain from printing the rantings of these (moderated). They’re not worth it.

  6. Hey #5
“Look at the facts that scientists who don’t have a certain agenda provide.” The same goes for the scientists on your side!

Remember the hacked emails that PROVED the scientists were faking the numbers to validate their ideas. As far as the ice caps melting, that has happened before, before the industrial revolution, before we started making co2, which by the way has been proven does NOT add to global warming. Maybe you should put down the out dated Al Gore movie and do your own research. And by the way tell Al to park his Hummer and his private JET! How much co is he producing telling us not to produce co. He is only in it for the money!

  7. Combustion makes Carbon Monoxide (deadly in high concentrations) which has been significantly reduced from vehicles in the US since 1971. Not to say the rest of the world is spewing it forth. Plants and trees turn Carbon Dioxide into Oxygen. G-d knows what he’s doing, it takes us much longer for us to find out what we’re doing.

  8. Maybe the reason we have so much co is because of all the building! Take down the trees and put up a a condo. there has to be some way to build and put back some trees. The trees take the co and convert it to oxygen, take away the trees and how do you clean the co up??
