VIDEO: TLS met up with the Mayor today who spent his morning driving around with the DPW cleanup crew to ensure the Town was getting cleaned. But besides for talking about the snow cleanup, Miller, as the new Mayor, also asked residents for their suggestions in areas they feel the township requires improving.
“Just because someone is the Mayor doesn’t make them smarter or wiser”, the Mayor said. “I want suggestions, and I want to implement them to ultimately make the town a better place”.
Regarding the snow cleanup Mayor Miller said, “If your street was not done, please notify me, I want to know about it”. “You’re taxpayers, and every person should have his block done”. “No-one should feel that they were shortchanged” the Mayor said.
The new Township Manager, Michael Muscillo, had a similar message for the town and asked residents to contact the DPW if their streets are still covered in snow.
“The Department of Public Works were out since last night getting to all the roads and I think they did a pretty good job”, Muscillo said.
I know it’s a bit premature but I think I like the way this mayor thinks!

indeed the job was done pretty good this time but there still is a problem with cars on the rd. where does the mayor want us to put the cars??????????? many blocks (mine included) have double the density due to basement apts and that translates in to double (or more cars on the block .
maybe the township should have us all park somewhere on township lots and bus us back and forth.
I dont have have a basement tennent but i do have more then one car and my driveway is only big enough for one car
Of course you CAN compare this snow storm to the last one. Even though you may not be able to compare snow flake to snow flake. During the last storm under different leadership it took more than 77 hours for my block to see even one snow plow. Under the leadership of our current Mayor every street has been plowed at least once, less than 6 hours after the snow stopped!!! Way to go Mr. Miller!!!

Too many minivans and cars on the road with snow blowing off of them creates a danger and diminished visibility for others in the lane or intersection.

Ashley Avenue between Wynatt and Lincoln has not been plowed or salted at all. There has not been one DPW truck on this block since the storm started.
I think on my block E 9TH ST Few people listen to your words about no parking on the street.. I think you should fine people because they are no obeying your words.. I think you should begin give people fines for not obeying your rules.. I think you also remind people to think about other people before you park on street.. Where is the safety??

I think this town should traine the crossing guards to give better signaling I know they hel a lot but I’ve seen and heard about crashes that were caused due to non leper hand signaling (saw one today was the crossing guards fault )

According to the contrsct with the bus companies the Superintendent is rhe sole person who can decide if there is bussing and if it will be delayed. Let’s hope that she won’t give 90 minutes delay. That’s just a ploy to give public school without giving private school. Don’t forget she is supposed to be there for all lakewoods children.
We have six inches of snow and suddenly MM is a hero.
If we wouldn’t have had a blizzard with 24 inches then no one would even be thinking of him.
We have 80 trucks with plows-if we can’t handle 6 inches then we are losers.
I love this whole photo-op thing that’s going on. As if the mayor plowed all the streets.

Mr. Miller; thank you for asking for suggestions. Hopefully it shows a genuine willingness to implement change. The word “change” has been marketed alot on a local and national level over the past few years. Not everyone that preaches it implements it. In fact most do not.
I think the best suggestion is a general one. Keep your head above the dirty politics. Always seek to do what’s best for THE PEOPLE and not for your friends, past and present. There’s nothing wrong with doing a favor so long as it doesn’t hurt the rest of the town. I think this town is weary from many years of shrewd deals done behind the scenes of which noone knew much about. This has cost the taxpayer ALOT. It MUST stop. If you wake up every morning and truly care about helping the people of this town-all of them- then you will succeed. If not…..you will end up like the rest of the bunch.

People use to be happy in Lakewood 15, 20, 25 years ago, but unfortunanetly the politicians made awful changes to make people unhappy and unsatisfied. You see the problem is nobody wants to know what caused it and nobody will make the changes to make people happy again in Lakewood. It seems like everything falls on deaf ears in this town anymore and the caring is all going towards one direction. It’s awful for such a wonderful town (city) to look and feel the way it does.

would love to know why i walked out of my firehouse this am at 8 am to find our parking lot was not plowed after spending 8 hours in stand by mode to serve our town… if there was an emergency it would not have been easy to respond to an emergency…why are the firehouses and ems buildings not on a steady watch by the plows???
Mr miller I think the town should have bus transportation on some major roads as county line, Rt 9, clifton, central, new central, to different shopping centers.
