Mayor Langert: Relocating Of Muster Shelter Cost Under $2,500

new employment zone shelterPHOTOS: Mayor Steven Langert tells TLS the relocating of the Muster Zone shelter cost the Township under $2,500. “According to numbers presented to me by the Department of Public Works, it cost less than $2,500”, the Mayor says. The shelter, which was located on Swarthmore Avenue in the Industrial park, was removed this week after it failed to achieve its purpose, as earlier reported on TLS.

This past Friday, says the Mayor, Hispanic community leaders urged Police Chief Rob Lawson to enforce the Employment Zone, because the few laborers who made use of the new Madison Avenue lot complained that they were losing jobs to the laborers waiting for jobs on Clifton Avenue.

Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien said, the shelter initially placed in Industrial Park was purposely made from material which could easily be moved should the project fail.

  1. How can they do it for free it takes gas, equipment, and workers. What a waste of money that whole project was it cost $40,000 to build didn’t it.

  2. yeah they built this thing miles from downtown where not one laborer could walk to it!!! Well thought out!! And to #2 How is this lowering a single tax? Langert has not lowered taxes one bit… Stop being so blind and just simply look at the numbers…

  3. taxes will be lowered, not now, not never. cmon people! We gotta pay for all these part timer’s health insurance and township cell phones!

  4. Langert is the only comittee of recent memory who actually has done something to lower the taxes and make tough decisions like EMS and taking on the unions. What has the others done in the past 8 years? Not even what Steve has done in the past 1.5 years. Keep it up.
    Call a spade a spade!

  5. LOL Maybe Ice will remove for FREE when people start going to it….

The term Illegal….means Illegal what am I missing

How is the town can find money for garbage cans-muster zones-etc

Yet municipal employees non cops are told no raises for 2 years

  6. to me $2500 is alot of money and a total waste of money oh its only 2500 oh because it didnt cost 20,000 makes it a good deal?! its another 2500 wasted

  7. How much did your taxes go down since they saved a fortune by cutting the EMS by 30% and take that # and thats how much your taxes will keep going down in the next 5 years. Yeah for you he must be doing the best job ever!!!!

  8. total waste of time and money, agree wiith comment from #7,should have had those with whom it would have benifited helped out.I am sure a few dollars and free lunch would have gotten the job done, and a lot quicker than having public works making a project out of it,shame on you lakewood

  9. To # 16 that is the problem. There are illegals in this country benefiting from the taxpaying citizens of NJ – free medical, free education etc. People need to stop employing them for a “few dollars” and lunch. Then there would no reason for people to move to Lakewood illegally and it would save many dollars of taxpayer money!
