PHOTOS: Despite Town Hall being closed for the Holiday, The Mayor, ‘Ace’ and others spent the day Friday at Town Hall putting together maps and other necessary information for thonight’s ‘Lights On’ project. Hundreds of colored copies of detailed maps and information were printed out to ensure for a seamless operation.
Dozens of volunteers – who be treated to a snack and drinks – are expected to show up at the Municipal Auditorium this evening to take part in the first ever project of this sort, in hopes of making Lakewood a safer place this Winter.
The Mayor says he hopes to have between 60-70 volunteers to canvass the town to report the burnt out lights. With that amount of volunteers, it would take approximately 15-20 minutes for each volunteer to complete his designated ‘zone’.
Those interested in volunteering their time for this project, are asked to meet up at the Municipal Auditorium (Town Hall) at 7:00 PM Sunday night. Flashlights, clipboards and Safety Reflective Belts will be provided. Drivers as well as non-drivers are welcome. Non-drivers will be paired up with those who have vehicles.
To report a burnt out light, you can call 732-364-2500, and enter the numbers corresponding to the letters POLE (7653) and you will be directed to the proper department.
Additionally, you can print out this form, and fax it back to 732-905-5991. TLS.
ok we are planning on being there, would like 14 th st area west of forest c u later jas and gs
The first would the block of California Swirl- Clifton between 2nd and 3rd. The 2 times we went there at night in the past month it was pitch dark. the street lights are off. its downtown. come on.
What about the new street lights we requested? its almost 6 months.
One thing JCPL need sot do is place brighter light bulbs, especialy on Central Avenue.
Ace,
YOU DA MAN!!
This is the only way we will over power JCP&L and that is by beating them to their own game. They always claim Lakewood doesn’t report outages. Well, once and for all we’ll get them the score as to precisely how many outages there are and where they are!!
Count me in, I’ll be there.
Menashe – Kol Hakovod!
I am always amazed how you get the job done in such a quiet unassuming way. May you have strength to keep on helping the klal.
ace u r the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only in Lakewood when Town Hall is closed do you find the Mayor and volunteers hard at work!! Gotta give credit where credit is due!
I plan on volunteering at 7:00. Anyone know what we need to bring along?
60 % of the lights on route 9 between prospect street and chestnut ave are not working !!
There is a street light on West side of Princeton Avenue between 13th and 14th that is on 24 hours a day.
half the lights in Raintree are out. It is very dark at night. scary.
By next week all the lights will be fixed. Then I woke up, more like six months if the past is any indication. good luck to all involved .

Don’t be so cynical.
The Mayor isn’t claiming to go out himself and fix the lights. He’s waging war on JCP&L and their claim that that Lakewood doesn’t report outages. Read the articles……….
Don’t worry about #12.
Guy’s like him just like to couch potato and be disgruntled. As for me, I’ll be volunteering and trying to make this town a better place
We shoulld all go solar and put JCP&L out of business!
#15, you are right but it’s not JCP&L to blame. Lakewood should have been all solar like East Brunswick and other Northern communities. What are we waiting for?
We should all switch to 3rd party suppliers!!!!
# 12
Yes I’m cynical because of what I know about the problem and how its long its going to take to fix it.
#13 yes, today I was a couch potato, and disgruntled because the Giants are going to need allot of help making the playoffs. As for making Lakewood a better place…. I’ve done my fair share, one can only hope that you do half of what I’ve done then it will be all good. Please be safe out there tonight !
