By: L. Halevi. Amongst the many high caliber girls schools in Lakewood, one stands out as a champion of the Mesorah of Chinuch Habanos, connecting the students of today with the bedrock of Chinuch of Yerushalayim of old. This school is Bnos Brocha, the school that carries the name of the legendary Rebbetzin Brocha Kahana A”H, matriarch of her illustrious family, sixth generation Yerushalmis and master Mechaneches.
The chain of the perpetual Mesorah continues under the leadership of Rabbi and Mrs. (or Morah as she is fondly referred to by her students) Mordechai Murik, paragons of Chinuch for over half a century, Bli Ayin Hara.
Morah Murik infuses the nearly 500 Bnos Brocha students with an amazing array of skills, Yedios in Yahadus, and general knowledge. The Muriks are also renowned for their indefatigable energy, their contagious Simchas Hachayim and an enthusiasm for learning and teaching which is nothing less than extraordinary.
This legacy of Chinuch which started in Chicago and continues for the past decade at Bnos Brocha in Lakewood, is being celebrated at this year’s Chinuch Legacy dinner, as the guests of honor will aptly be the beloved Rabbi & Morah Murik.
The Legacy of Rabbi & Mrs. Murik as well as the legacy of Bnos Brocha will be recognized at the school’s upcoming dinner which will take place on Motzaei Shabbos Parshas Terumah, February 16, 2013, at the Ateres Reva hall.
As the legacy of Bnos Brocha continues to be cemented in the history books, indeed this year will also be a celebration of a true milestone in Bnos Brocha’s short, yet rich history: The graduation of the first eight grade class.
In honor of this wonderful milestone of Chinuch, the school is proud to honor the memory of a grandparent of students in the school, the late R’ Shmuel Kunda Z”L, the quintessential Mechanech whose Derech Hachinuch, Ne’imus Hachaim, and appreciation for each and every child were the hallmarks of his teaching.
Morah Murik TBLC”TA enjoyed a warm relationship with Mrs. Naomi Kunda A”H, the Aishes Chayil who stood at R’ Shmuel’s side throughout the many years of their marriage.
Mayor and Mrs. Ackerman, the newly appointed mayor of Lakewood and devoted parents of Bnos Brocha students, have graciously agreed to accept the well-deserved “Avodas Hakodesh” award, and indeed Bnos Brocha is indebted to them for their devotion to the school throughout the years.
Rabbi and Mrs. Yanky Brenner, extremely involved and dedicated members of the Bnos Brocha family, will also be honored at this year’s dinner with the “Amud Hachesed” award. The Brenners are known for their dedication to Chesed, both to individuals as well as to various Mosdos HaTorah V’Chesed.
The Teacher of the Year award will be presented to Rabbi and Mrs. Moshe Heiman for Morah Heiman’s role as a master teacher in Bnos Brocha. Morah Heiman, the daughter of the esteemed Rav Feldman Shlita of London and the daughter-in-law of Morah Sara Heiman-Nadav, legendary principal of TAG Elementary of Far Rockaway continues to impart the Choshuva Chinuch with which she was raised.
Congrats to Yanky Brenner – a well deserved honor.
