Heavy Storm Pounds Area, Hundreds Of Lakewood Residents Without Power

power lines down on west county line(Photo of downed power lines on West Kennedy this morning) 7:23 p.m. Hundreds of Lakewood residents are without power this evening’s after a major rain and wind storm hit Ocean County. Over 50,000 JCP&L customers are without power in Ocean and Monmouth Counties according to a report in the APP. Winds have reached up to 67 MPH in some area. Large tree branches are scattered on many roads around town. TLS will keep you updated on this latest storm.
U/D 7:32 p.m. Route 9 is closed in both direction from Prospect to James Street due to wires down. Trees have taken down wires and snapped poles in many locations around town. JCP&L is overwhelmed with calls.
7:44 p.m. Chaveirim is already receiving many calls due to the outages.
7:56 p.m. Heavy Traffic around exit 7 on the NJ Turnpike due to falling debris.
8:36 p.m. Concord, Delta and surrounding area power has been shut by JCP&L due to the downed polls. Exxon area power is down as well.
8:41 p.m. Route 9 South closed between Courtney and County Line.
9:16 p.m. Blackout at Bais Shalom building of BMG. (TLS-00/TLS-46)
9:21 p.m. Ridge and Shoshanna Drive heavy flooding, over the curbs. Ridge between Hackett & Negba there are low hanging wires. Use caution.
11:42 p.m. Hatzolah’s Heathwood Garage has lost power.
Sunday 9:44 a.m. Hundreds are still without power.

    we probably won’t have power until tomorrow, thats what jcp&l said when they cut the power so those cars and houses where the poles snapped wouldn’t catch fire

  4. everyone shut down your pc’s your using already depleted energy sources and good grief stay off the roads theres flooding debris flying lines down oh my

  5. dont forget to thank the jcpl workers who lives are endangerd working in the high winds and flooding rains with very high voltage straight thru to get your power back on and dont forget their families who are home doing without themselves and waiting for the safe return of these workers
