A vehicle slammed into a home in the Silverwoods Community on Friday afternoon, causing significant damage and injuring one resident.
At approximately 3:50 p.m. on October 10, 2025, Manchester Township Police responded to reports of a vehicle that struck a residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2011 Toyota Highlander with heavy front-end damage after crashing into the home. Both the driver and passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle by first responders.
According to police, the driver had been attempting to park when he accidentally accelerated, striking a tree before crashing into the residence. Inside the home, 66-year-old Rosemarie Sherman was lying on her couch and was thrown across the room from the impact. Emergency crews were able to safely rescue her from the damaged residence.
Sherman was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, 63-year-old Steven Makowsky, and passenger, 67-year-old Joan Thompson, both of Manchester, were uninjured.
Emergency Medical Technicians and firefighters from multiple agencies responded, including the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Manchester Township Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Department, the Manchester Township Building Inspector, and Priced Rite Towing.
Police say that improper parking and pedal misapplication appear to be the primary contributing factors. The crash remains under investigation by Ptl. Brendan Brush of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

Improper parking 🤣
good grief “Pedal Misapplication” you mean stepping on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and yea its not proper to park in someones home
