The Manchester Township Police Department has added an experienced officer to its ranks, swearing in Patrolman Donald Miller during the November 10 township council meeting.
Miller, 36, brings eight years of full-time law enforcement experience to his new position, most recently serving with the Jamesburg Borough Police Department.
A Brick Township native and 2008 graduate of Brick Memorial High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology from Kean University before beginning his law enforcement career.
His police service began in 2016 when he was hired by the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department. Miller attended the Ocean County Police Academy, graduating in 2017 with the Physical Fitness Award. He subsequently joined the Jamesburg Borough Police Department, where he spent eight years and served as the department’s defensive tactics instructor.
“We are proud to welcome Ptl. Miller to the Manchester Police family,” said Chief Antonio Ellis. “As a seasoned officer with years of law enforcement experience, including as a trainer, we look forward to Ptl. Miller’s contributions to our department and community.”
Miller has expressed interest in furthering his training in defensive tactics and firearms, with aspirations to instruct recruits at the Ocean County Police Academy. He also hopes to serve on the Ocean County S.W.A.T team representing Manchester Township.
The new patrolman will now undergo the Manchester Township Police Department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program, where he will work alongside several highly trained officers.
Chief Ellis thanked Mayor Joseph Hankins, the Township Council, and township administration for their continued support of the police department, joining the community in wishing Miller success as he begins this new chapter in his law enforcement career.
