A Manchester home was damaged in a fire that was deemed accidental early Friday night, authorities said.
At about 9:00 PM, officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to 137A Hudson Parkway to investigate a report of an active structure fire. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed smoke and flames coming from the rear exterior of the residence. Officers quickly determined that all adjoining residences were either self-evacuated or unoccupied.
Due to the joint efforts of the Manchester Township Communications Division and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division, numerous fire companies were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire. As a result of the fire, the residence sustained extensive fire and water damage, and the building inspector subsequently deemed the residence uninhabitable.
No injuries were reported at the scene. The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office conducted a preliminary investigation, concluding that the fire was accidental and caused by the failure of energized electrical components in the master bedroom.
