The man who was found dead from an apparent overdose in woods on Sunday was identified by Lakewood Police.

“43-year-old Michael J. Rappleyea, of Toms River, was found unresponsive and lying on the ground in a wooded area,” Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith said.

“Evidence on scene suggested that he had ingested an undetermined amount of heroin a few hours prior to the call. As a result, it is believed that Rappleyea died as a result of a drug overdose. However, an autopsy will be performed to determine and confirm the cause of death.”
