VIDEO: A man was injured after being shot in the back, police say. At about 10 PM, the victim was walking on Holly Street when a Hispanic male got out of a vehicle and shot him once, police say. The shooter then fled.
The victim was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in stable condition.
CIU, the Prosecutors Office and the Lakewood Detectives Bureau are investigating.

What has happened to the brains of some in this town?! Incidents like this indicate we need more LCSW members??!! If you’d say the police need more money to hire officers, I may agree with you but LCSW members? What exactly will they do when they’re c’v staring down the barrel of a 9mm?
The LCWS group are doing a wonderful job as an extra set of eyes for the local police, BUT I often wonder if their enthusiasm for the job is some day going to back fire on them when they are mistaken for police and fired upon or hurt in some other manor. As we all know and have lived through recently, certain members of society have no regards for any authority figure. Not sure of what training the watch group has but I’m sure it’s nowhere near what the training cops have in those situation where shots are fired.

Hire more LCSW? why not just let all the police go to other towns. so then you can park and drive however you want. The LCSW does a wonderful job in town. But Lakewood needs more police, many will be leaving in the comming months.

Cops or no Cops, crime will still take place. Philly has over 700 cops and there is a shooting everyday. Deal with it.

The LCSW needs to be outfitted with AK-47’s because that is the only way to stem this tide of violence.
What’s more police going to help to stop a murderer from following someone on a quiet street and shooting him? Big cities have much more police per capita, and still much more crime.
The only thing that helps is a community that works together to give the criminal elements an unwanted feeling. When that happens, they pack their bags and go to better grounds.
That’s were LCSW comes in.
As I said in the past. We as community need to better BACKROUND CHECKS on prespective tenants.
It gets down to the evil in mans hearts. There no respect for each othere anymore or for for law enforcement . But I say that the government bought this problem upon himself by being so kind to the criminals.

I’m sorry, but there isn’t enough training for the members of LCSW to deal with the problems, such as this, in this town! As far as backround checks, agreed, but…. how can u do a backround check on someone that isn’t supposed to be in this country??!!?? What we need is for the state of NJ to reconize that this town does have Gang problems in this town! We need the “State Boys” to be out n about in this town, showing there presence does in fact help.
The answer is not for the state police to come to Lakewood, the answer is for more Lakewood cops. Why would you want an outside agency who knows nothing about the town working over officers from Lakewood?
