A man was placed in a chokehold and robbed in broad daylight in Lakewood, police say.
Just before 3pm yesterday afternoon, Officer Matthew Richardson was dispatched to a reported robbery in the area of the Singin gas station. Upon arrival, the victim, a 46-year-old man from Brick, NJ, reported that he had just purchased lottery tickets when the suspect approached him along a section of railroad tracks that run behind the gas station.
The suspect asked the victim for money, and when he refused, the suspect placed him in a chokehold and forcefully removed a gold necklace from around the victim’s neck,” Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith says.
The suspect is described as approximately 5’4″-5’6″ in height, bald and between 25 and 30 years old.
