Man Leads TR Police on Foot Chase After Theft, Crash in Lakewood

A man was arrested by Toms River police after stealing equipment from Lakewood, crashing his vehicle and then leading police on a foot chase, sources say. Shortly after 5 PM, the suspect allegedly stole a leaf blower from a Lakewood landscaping truck, and fled.

During his getaway, the suspect reportedly rear ended a vehicle on New Hampshire Avenue, a witness told police.

Lakewood Police attempted to follow the suspect into Toms River, but lost track of him.

A short time later, the Toms River notified the LPD that they’s tracked down the suspect, and had apprehended him following a foot chase. The stolen equipment was found as well.

He was brought to Lakewood, where charges are pending. [TLS-CCP/TLS-MK/TLS-46].
