PHOTO: U/D: A man was killed at about 1:35 a.m this morning after his vehicle overturned on North Lake Drive and Hope Chapel TLS has learned. Police arrived to find the man DOA, and the Traffic and Safety Division was called. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which remains under investigation.
An Official tells TLS that the man was ejected from his vehicle, which landed on top of him, and Lakewood First Aid was called for the recovery process, which was assisted by Hatzolah.
Emergency personnel were unable to locate the victim for over 30 minutes, until it was discovered under the vehicle, an Official says.
LFA and Hatzolah members worked for hours at the scene, some returning home at 5:30 a.m.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, which an Official tells TLS, could have saved his life.
Misaskim was not called to the scene. TLS-CAC/TLS-CCP
That is so sad! Can we please get more information on the deceased?
Information like driver information should not be put out. The family has to plan services for their loved one that was lost this morning and that will be hard enough. This person was not from Lakewood. He was from another town. Respect is warranted here, let them have some time to grieve
This is why people should slow down and wear your seatbelt. They do save lives it’s not just a “money making” scheme run by the police.
Thank you Schmulie for your most informative commen.
SUV/VAN/TRUCKS = LARGER WINDOWS
LARGER WINDOWS = LARGER HOLES FOR THE UNSECURED BODY TO FLY OUT OF!
and since the body is lighter then the car, it flies out faster, and further- but the weight of the rolling vehicle eventually catches up and crushes the unconsciousness person. 25mph+ WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!!
The problem is that singer doesn’t let the town use eminant domain to make north lake drive wider it is very narrow and dangeous it there is no reason that its not widened people use it for to go to westgate and 14th street singer is payed by geogein college not to touch their hundred acres
Done worry, I’m sure the smart plan has addressed this issue. With the out or control of this town, soon to be city, we will see more deaths as the result of hundreds of mini vans flying around town
pure anti semitism
to #6 – the accident was not on No Lake, the driver was on Hope Chapel and left the roadway at the intersection of No lake and HC.
You can blame the Senator for alot but widening a road won’t make it safer. People do not obey the Speed limits, the limit on North lake is 25 and 35. No one drives the limit on that road. Arriving at your destination a few seconds / minutes late is better the dying.
Prayers and hope the family can get through a troubled time.
So the politicians are to blame for this accident? I think the driver’s carelessness (regrettably) was more likely the cause of the accident. You can’t blame the road for not being straight enough if you aren’t driving responsibly!
to #8 you cant argue with facts, ppl in this town do not obey traffic laws.
there will be ppl in every single town that dont obey traffic laws. dont blame it on the mini vans and dont point fingers at certain communities. the person killed in this accident was not from the lakewood community and was driving a van. it has nothing to do with the way ppl in lakewood drive or the fact that they drive vans. you have freedom of speech but so do i and this isnt the place for anti semitism. you wont change the way anyone drives from making a stupid anti semitic comment. sorry.
THANK U Schmulie FOR YOUR WONDERFULL COMMENT
Michael Gladysz, age 41, was a special education teacher at the Lucy N. Holman Elementary School in Jackson
Stop throwing antisemitism around, it’s not appropriately used. Just because some one comments on the dangerous behaviors of people doesn’t mean they’re antisemitism. Look the word up! And stop throwing it around! When words like this are over used they no longer have carry any significance.
Some one lost a life in this accident, no matter where he is from it’s still a life lost. Blaming and complaining doesn’t change what has happened. So please be respectful!
Our prayers go out to his family.
Sad that the accident resuted in a death, the politicians do many things wrong However its plain stupid to point fingers at them for this. Drivers need to be aware of road conditions and should be wearing seat belts
blame the geese! now things will get accomplished .
Mr. Gladysz was a wonderful man and teacher. My son had him and admired him greatly. He will be missed more then words can say. God Bless his family, both at home and at Holman.
lets not be ridiculous i drive that road 3 times aday and thers nothing unsafe about it
I would like you all to know that the family members have read all your comments and are saddened their deceased Beloved is being written about with such a negative tone. Thank’s to those who wrote a positive word about this special man, Teacher, Father, Son , Brother and Friend to many. Sometimes we think we have something to say and find out through HUMILITY that we did not and our opinion did not need to be expressed at this unappropiate time. Please allow the healing to begin.
#20 I doubt the family members sat around and read these comments. None the less..most of them were ridiculous. It was an unfortunate accident. Plain and simple. May you rest in peace Mr. Gladysz.
may he rest in peace and it is a shame that people are coming to conclusions as to what happened… but having nothing to do with this accident- i will tell you this. I drive through Lakewood everyday and the way the community drives it is a miracle that there arent numerous accidents daily. this is not antisemitsm… this is factual. I am Jewish myself and the way the community drives, half of them should have their licenses revoked….
The person who died was my teacher
