A man is in custody after allegedly pulling his licensed gun during a road rage incident in Lakewood today, TLS has learned.
At approximately 9:00 AM this morning, two drivers got into a road rage altercation on Rt. 9, and words were exchanged.
The incident escalated, and that’s when one driver allegedly pulled out his licensed gun and waved it in the air.
Both the suspect and victim went to Lakewood Police headquarters to give statements. Following the reports, police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and recovered a handgun.
Police tell TLS the suspect was charged with Unjustified Display of a Firearm, Terroristic Threats and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes.
The suspect is being transported to Ocean County Jail for processing.
Should he be convicted, he will likely lose his gun carry license and privileges, police told TLS.
