Man Arrested For Armed Robbery In Coventry Square

Police arrested a man wanted for an armed robbery in Coventry Square, Detective Steve Wexler confirms to TLS. At about 9:45 PM on Thursday evening, a Coventry Square resident attempted to enter her home when she found a man on her property.

She confronted the man and asked him what he was doing, when he pulled a gun on her, Wexler says.

The woman ran off, and so did the perpetrator.

Lakewood Police, K-9 and CIU responded to the scene in search of the suspect, described as a young white male.

About three hours later, Lakewood officers located a man matching that description, in the Clifton Avenue shopping center.

Police stopped to question the man, and found him to be in possession of a Pellet Gun.

The suspect, 18, was arrested and taken into Police Headquarters where he was positively identified by the victim.

The suspect was charged with Robbery, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, Wexler says.

He is being held in Ocean County Jail on $15,000 bail. TLS/NB.

  1. So lcsw would confront an alleged armed and dangerous individual with nothing but their walkie-talkies? Hopefully this.woman called the police instead. Thank you again LPD for protecting us and our town.

  2. Ouch ! This is scary. This happenned close to where I live. The previous poster is right: time to Lock-and-Load, people. THe problem is, I don’t think I’ll get approved for a permit. NJ gun laws are v/ tough. They’ll turn me down cuz in the last few yrs I did get a cellphone ticket

  3. “IT IS ABOUT TIME WE SHOULD ALL ARM OURSELVES UP!BTIME TO TAKE MATTERS INTO OUR OWN HANDS!!ENOUGH ENOUGH!!”

the only way to arm yourself with protection is to put your life in the hands of Hashem i.e with bitachon & emunah (faith & trust) & then you have no worries of protection for one that seeks out Hashem lacks nothing that is good (tehillim chapter 34)

WHO IS REALLY PROTECTING LAKEWOOD? I wonder is it LPD? LCSW? OR FBI?…. or is it really Hashem that protects the world-& keeps it going-& they are his agents to protect.

NEXT TIME you need protection & safety help, FIRST turn to hashem for help i.e. daven & then turn to his agents for protection

    HATXLACHA!

  4. # 14, i beleive in a higher power too, but i protect myself with common sense, situational awareness, and a pocket knife. and when the state allows concealed carry, a handgun.

  5. To Qoute “Why do you need to know every detail? It is in the hands of the police now. Let them do their job.

because thats called honest reporting ! Why else would you write about anything if you don’t give the facts???

  6. The kid needed some money for cigarettes & now his life is in ruins.
Although I hate somking & smoke, we may have gone overboard, these kids have bigger problems. There are govrernment programs to hand out needles etc, but iI have yet to hear of a government program that provides cigarettes for needy distrout teenagers.

  7. It doesn’t matter what the kid needed money for. The point is he commited the crime. And I don’t think owning a gun is an answer to protecting ourselves. Just because a person has a license and knows how to use a gun doesn’t mean he should take matters into his own hands. That’s what we have police for. They’re specially trained to protect our towns and the people who live in them.
It’s okay to learn how to do karate and stuff like that. But when dealing with people who do wrong, it’s important to make sure we do the right thing.

  8. Maybe I should remind people that although Coventry has a wonderful kehilla and many ehrliche frum mishpachas living there, it should not be surprising that there is a level of crime there. It is not exclusively frum therefore it should not be expected that it is immune to robberies, pit bull attacks, drug crimes and gang activities.
