Man Arrested After Breaking Into Lakewood Home, Turning On Gas Flames As Homeowners Slept [PHOTOS]

A man was arrested early this morning after breaking into a Lakewood home and turning on the gas flames inside the kitchen, TLS has learned.

At approximately 2:30 AM, police responded to a possible burglary in progress in the south end of town.

Responding officers located the described suspect a short time after he fled the home and took him into custody.

Police then spoke with the homeowner who stated he was awoken by footsteps in his home and then upon investigation found the flames of his gas cooktops open. The suspect, who may have entered the home through an unlocked door, then fled the home.

The suspect sustained a minor injury and was transported to the hospital in police custody.

Police tell TLS that drugs were later found on the suspect, leading police to believe the suspect was high at the time of the incident.

The suspect, Michael Mueller, was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Narcotics, police said.
