A malfunctioning grill set a home on fire, but luckily it was put out before it could further damage the home.
At about 3:45 PM on Saturday, the Lakewood Fire Department responded for a General Alarm to the Four Seasons for the reports of a fire, and moments later the alarm was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm fire as large column of smoke was visible from Cedar Bridge Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire crews learned that a resident had apparently attempted to prepare a meal, when the propane tank set the siding and deck covering on fire.
The fire was quickly knocked down and kept to the exterior of the house, officials say.
“Firefighters checked the attic for extension and smoke ejectors were utilized to remove residual smoke,” officials told TLS. No injuries reported.
The Inspection Department and Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene.

A little common sense would of helped!
To toot: why do you assume they didn’t use common sense? The article says the grill malfunctioned.
To huh?: Maybe move it away from the house!
I missed the part it said the grill was too close to the house! I did read were it said the deck covering was on fire!! For fact…the grill was far enough away from the house!! The fire spread to the house!!
To huhToot- can you guys stop it already. Relax…both of you!
