MACHA’AH FOR TORAH VALUES: VIDEO: OJC Founder and Lakewood Resident Duvi Honig Stops Knesset Member In His Tracks for Anti-Torah View

img_1047[VIDEO BELOW] It was one of those “Did that really just happen?” moments in the Israeli Knesset on Tuesday morning, when Duvi Honig, Founder and Director of the Orthodox Chamber of Commerce interrupted a prominent member of Knesset when he espoused anti-Torah values. Likud MK Amir Ohana walked into the Knesset symposium for the “U.S.-Israel Business Alliance” mission organized by the Jewish Chamber and took the microphone to address the gathering and its leading participant, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who was surrounded by eleven leading MKs and other dignitaries.

MK Ohana, the most prominent proponent of non-traditional marriage on Israel’s right wing, boasted to Governor Huckabee about his work to legitimize non-traditional marriage in Israel.

Reb Duvi spontaneously interrupted him to voice his opposition. MKs are no strangers to aggressive arguments, but Ohana was clearly stunned at the response and angrily retorted that it’s illegal for a civilian to interrupt an MK in the Knesset. Violation of this law could have potentially forced Reb Duvi to be expelled from the Knesset, but he remains proud of his actions.

“We represent the ‘Orthodox’ Jewish Chamber of Commerce, and I will always stand up for the Torah view,” Reb Duvi says.

  1. Wow – Gutsy call. Just btw, What is the purpose of this assembly? Who gains by having a frum chamber US-Israeli conference ? Do we want the IDF do get their food from Glatt-Bite & their batteries from Center of Town ? I’m lost here.

  2. Duvi, that was Definitely not an easy thing to do and likely many of us wouldn’t have been able to muster up the courage to voice our true feeling- But when Kvod Hashem V’Torahso is on the Line, we CANNOT be silent. You have just shown that you are the right man to represent us!!
