  1. My kids bus stops make no sense and are so unsafe. A bus stop ten minutes down a road with no sidewalks is equal to not having a stop. So if they are going to dump children onto busses to be able to send out bus passes and say everyone has busses. It is irresponsible and so not right. Many people do not have bussing and have no one to even talk to. They don’t care about our kids safety, just to say everyone has bussing. Bring the bussing back to the Board of,education.

  2. Wow 99% of Lakewood has busing but how many of that 99% actually have a safe bus stop. I have had the same bus stop for my kids for the past 10 years and now this year all 5 of my kids have different stops atleast 10 minutes from my house and they all have their stops at different places. One of my children has a stop on a street that has no sidewalks and the cars we so close to us that we could touch them if we put out our hand. I called the LSTA and they said I have to wait 4 weeks before they will do anything. Are the children of Lakewood not a concern for them that they would allow so many children to have such dangerous stops.

  3. I had the differentime bus stops last year and got the same shpiel. Got no where in the end. Good luck.
They claim they’re making shorter routes by having less stops so every other corner on Central Ave has a stop do you know what kind of traffic this causes? No as long as they can say 99% of the kids have a bus

  4. I want to say thank you to the LSTA, first for arranging busing for the 99% of students. It is a very difficult job and hard to please all involved. In addition, on a personal level I want to say thank you- I had a specific issue that somehow was overlooked during the summer. When I reached out to them, they were cordial and extremely helpful, and resolved my issue within the hour!

  5. Lucky u! I had a problem with my bus stop last year and there was no one to talk to. No matter how many times I called and emailed they did nothing to help me and my neighbors.lsta is a joke! I won’t even bother calling with my problem this year

  6. i am a bus driver. Parents please be patience we are doing the best we can. we go by the paperwork giving to us. I had mothers this morning wanting stops changed and to add stops, we can not do that. Our routes are very tight in timing to get from one place to another. If we add more stops the routes take a lot longer and then everything runs late.

  7. My children including a primary boy have a bus stop a ten minute walk from my house. Part of the way has no sidewalk and there is a busy intersection they need to cross. No light just a four way stop sign so no one ever stops! This morning my primary boy cried the whole walk there. This is unacceptable! And his route is 45 minutes long which is way longer than I ever had when I was near my house!

  8. Having a bus stop 10 minutes away (or even 5) is worthless. I might as well drive my kids to school. I need to anyway pack all my kids into the car and if drive them straight to school at least then I don’t have to wait. Give me my money and I’ll get my kids to school. Rather than this!

  9. So on a positive note, lsta has been very cordial anytime I had emailed them a question. For that I say thank you. HOWRVER, I’m in Westgate. On a corner. And have 60 people there. All of them on my grass, touching everything. Tuning up and down my steps. And MY kids stop is not there. They have to walk over to the other side of busy hillside. That makes no sense.

  10. Bus stops 4 blocks away from my house doesn’t help much! And my kids have different bus stops, and different in morning and afternoon as well!
Why do I bother filling out a bus form with the closest intersection?! The computer system that generates the bus stops is apparently very old and does NOT know the actual neighborhoods!

  11. Hello??? Stop complaining!! Has anyone ever thought to thank the tireless workers over at the LSTA?? They do work very hard, nevertheless there is always room.for.improvement!! This can and should.happen over time. Personally,i think there should be representative from all diff areas to advise that LSTA where it is and where it isn’t safe to stop!! Patience is the name.of the game and any show of hakaras hatov would be much appreciated!

No, I do not work for the LSTA, and last year my son had a stop ten minutes from us so I drove him every day!! This year we have a stop bh at 7:40 in the morning! He is six years old!! It is never perfect.

Rose colored glasses would.help everyone at this point instead of getting all worked up!

  12. If you send a cordial email to the LSTA you will a get response pretty quick. They are swamped and really trying to help everyone. In most cases it sounds like if it’s a safety issue like ours or if the stop you want to change to is on the way, they will be happy to accommodate you within the next couple of weeks once the routes settle.

  13. This isn’t Brooklyn unfortunately there are not sidewalks on every street and section of road. People should be happy at least have a bus this year !!

  14. We spoke with the bus company directly about changing our stop and didn’t bother the LSTA so we were able to resolve it already. We changed one stop for another one that was on the route (didn’t add a stop or make the bus go any further just changed to a safer corner).
