LRRC: January 31, 2021, marks the close of Open Enrollment, which is usually the last opportunity to purchase private health insurance for the year. However, The LRRC is pleased to announce two new Special Enrollment Periods
allowing specific individuals and families to enroll in private health insurance during closed enrollment. These Special Enrollment Periods include:
- Pregnancy – A woman has 60 days to enroll in coverage from the date she reports her pregnancy on her application. No documentation is required, and coverage can be retroactive.
- Governor Murphy has created a Special Enrollment Period across the state due to COVID-19, allowing anyone to enroll in or change plans from February 1 through May 15. Coverage will begin the first of the month following plan selection, no documentation is required, and a consumer does not have to have been affected by COVID to qualify.
For more information about these new Special Enrollment Periods or for assistance enrolling, schedule an appointment through the LRRC’s automated appointment scheduling system by calling 732-523-1789.
As a last reminder, today is the last day to enroll in a private insurance plan for February. You may enroll in a subsidized plan for coverage beginning February 1 until midnight on January 31 by going to www.getcovered.nj.gov or calling the Get Covered NJ Call Center at 1-833-677-1010.
