VIDEO: The LRRC this week celebrated the opening of the Sara Rothenberg Educational room with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by many local officials.
The educational center was the brain child of Mrs. Sara Rothenberg A”H who served as the director of the LRRC for the past two 1/2 years until her sudden passing this past summer. The educational center will host classes educating first time home buyers in purchasing a home.
Heartfelt speeches commemorating Mrs. Rothenberg’s legacy were delivered by Mayor Menashe Miller, Rabbi Avrohom Moshe Muller; LRRC Board member, Mr. Issac Bernhack; Acting director of LRRC, Rabbi Akiva Rothenberg; her husband, and Rabbi Aharon Kotler, CEO of BMG. Each spoke of her complete dedication and devotion of herself to the success of the organization way beyond anyone’s expectations, while at the same time being super concerned for her staff and ensuring a positive working environment.
Rabbi Muller eloquently compared her to a modern day “Queen Esther” while her employees called her their mentor and mother. Her work helped hundreds and her achievements and instrumental programs will continue helping the entire community. Rabbi Rothenberg went on to thank the LRRC for making such a dedication and their thoughtfulness during the Shiva and the past few months.
The audience continued to be inspired when Mr. Mike McNeil, director of STEP of Lakewood spoke of his close relationship that she had formed between the many diverse communities here in Lakewood. On a personal note he referred to Mrs. Rothenberg as his sister. His assistant Lynn continued with an emotional and tearful poem describing the unique and special friendship they shared. Upon leaving the event Mr. McNeil turned to Rabbi Kotler and commented that this was way too painful for him.
“May the Kiddush Hashem made by Mrs. Rothenberg to the Hispanic and African American Communities here in Lakewood be a maylitza yeshura to her family and serve as a catalyst for future cooperation in all Lakewood Townships endeavor,” said the LRRC.

I remember when I entered the LRRC in March of 2014, Mrs. Rothenberg and Mr. Birnhack helped me in so many areas, from advocating for me, to ensuring a $5,000 grant from a foundation (forgot the name of it). I was really impressed by the services, compassion and their genuine care.
