The Lakewood Police Department, as well as LCSW will have additional patrols out this evening for Halloween as trick-or -treaters take to the streets. Mischief night – also known as Devil’s Night or Egg Nyte – did land some residents with eggs splattered on their homes last night.
Motorists tonight are urged to use extra caution and lookout for children in the roadways making their way around town during trick-or-treat hours. Please slow down and yield to pedestrians.
Pedestrians are also urged to use caution and lookout for vehicles and only cross in crosswalks.

To the Pedestrians – Be sure to wear reflective gear with your costumes. Be cautious when crossing streets, do not assume cars will stop, even on crosswalks or at lights. Please watch your children, and hold their hands, especially the younger ones.
To the Drivers – Please drive the posted speed limit. Do not pass on the shoulder. Be extra cautious when turning on another road. You must YIELD to the pedestrians crossing, even if you have a green light, the pedestrians still legally have right-of way.
Let’s all work together to keep this holiday safe for everyone’s sake.

Every year I buy a bag of chocolates, but there are never trick-or-treaters at my door.
There r never treak or treaters at my door either so I didn’t buy anything this year. It is especially kind of us to give out candy even though we do not celebrate this holiday.
we bought 4 large bags of my favorite candy and not one kid even in rain tree……..good thing its kosher
We hung a sorry no treats sign 🙂 my mom was scared of trick or treaters. Eilu V’eilu. As kids we used to loveee sitting by the door and wait for trick or treaters-and give them our favorite candy n nosh…then wed eat aLl the leftovers, of course.
There were no extra police patrols on Halloween.
