12: 10 p.m. A Police Officer patrolling a neighborhood moments ago came across a young child roaming in front of a home, with no parents in sight. The Officer knocked on the door closest to where the child was found, but it was not their child. Approximately 10 minutes later, the Officer located the parents, whose home was on a different street. The parents were unaware the child had left their backyard where the child was playing.
This should serve as a reminder, that besides the possibility of a child abduction, with the current extreme weather conditions, young children can dehydrate in a matter of minutes.
Please keep a close watch on your little ones, at all times. And if a child is placed in a backyard on his own, ensure there is no way for the child to ‘escape’.
who was the officer
People, Wake up !! this is serious business. Don’t take this story lightly. Who knows how the next story may end up G-d forbid. This stuff is happening way too often. We need to be more responsible. Period.
These children our our most prized possession. Yet we seem to take it for granted that things will always work out.
The parents were probably online moaning & groaning about their taxes.
This is not happening more then in the passed. The only difference is now we are broadcasting every little incident that takes place
i say instead of complaining about officers taking down eruv wires, lets complain about this, and the brave police officers who find them and keep the safe.
To #5, “Little incident”? how many spare children do YOU have? I know a few childless couples who will not consider this so “little”
who was it
first of all number 5 is correct. second of all mr.anonomous how negative can we get i can give a thousand positive reasons what the mother was doing
How old was the child? 9?
what he means to say is that twenty years ago even the police would not focus on this story because their common sense told them that the parents are looking over their children every few moments the problem with us these days is that we lost any bit of common sense
I agree with 5 and 10. I think people were actually less careful years ago because of all the media attention to scary stories. My mother remembered walking to preschool herself.
was the kid mexican?and who is the landlord?
Luckily this child was not hurt but you do not know what could have happened.
I blame the landlord of the parents
i mentioned this last week and it was never posted—take a ride down town, 4th st ,5th, st, lexingtomn and monmouth ave—you will seee children 3 and 4 years old roaming the streets—where are the parents?????
Adding to #16 – JD says —
Ride on any of the streets in Pine Acres (south of 70) and you will be surprised at the amount of “little darlings” that are roaming the streets unsupervised by anyone. Just be careful if you do ride there – the “little darlings” think nothing of running or biking (without helmets) in front of you from side streets.
Consider yourselves lucky! In larger cities the police have too many things to deal with and probably wouldn’t stop to help the child. Thank G-d the child was reunited with the parents!
I have gone out by myself since 4 stayed home alone at 8 babysat at 9 why. Is everybody scared to trust there own kids do u want them to always depend on somebody being on top of them?
very nice mark but it’s illigal.
WHAT DIFFERENCE DOS IT MAKE ,IF THE CHILD IS MEXICAN ORE WHO THE LANDLORD IS .BE GLAD WATH THE OFFICER DID HE COULD HAVE TAKEN THE CHILD TO KIMBEL ORE TO C.P.S.
Can we please learn to spell?!?
Hey mark think before you speak its not your own kids you can’t trust its everyone else. As much as you would like to think this world is made of candy and gum drops its not. This child could have been abducted or hit by a car. Just be careful with your children. Its is your job to protect them . They can not protect themselves at 3,4,or 5. Come on guys wake up !
Lovelkwd. A child could have been hurt and your only concern is the correct spelling of someone’s post. I guess your children are probably out front by themselves right now
