Lakewood Police last night arrested a man found to be carrying dozens of bags of fake Heroin, police say.
“31 year old Darnell Reeves was arrested last evening after Officers responded the area of MLk and Cedarbridge for a suspicious person,” Dsgt Greg Staffordsmith says.
“After Officers made contact with him, he became combative. After placing him under arrest he was found in possession of what appeared to be 87 bags of heroin. However, further investigation proved the suspected heroin to be counterfeit. According to state law, the packaging of imitation drugs is the same as if it were an actual controlled dangerous substance.”
He was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park. Bail was set in the amount of $45,000.

The “war on drugs” has been a trillion-dollar failure. It harms everyone, not just people with addictions, and not just tax payers paying for their incarceration. The prohibition increases violent crime, reduces medical and cultural innovation, perpetuates poverty, worsens ethnic tensions, causes ever-more distrust against the police, etc, etc, etc. If caffeine was illegal, people would be getting stabbed over fake NoDoz! Some of that wasted prison money could have gone to curing cancer, filling potholes, etc.
Imitation drugs is the same as actual, according to State Law ? That is really strange. I hope thats a misunderstanding. Heroin is an illegal substance. Sugar is not. Either way, #1 is absolutely , 100% right : the war on drugs is one huge failed disaster. Thanx LPD for getting this guy off the streets.
Alex but caffeine in not illegal so you have no point. But keep bantering your nonsense maybe someone out there is interested.
