LPD: Lakewood woman assaulted and robbed by Brooklyn man

A fight over money allegedly owed turned violent and ended in a robbery, police said.  

At approximately 4pm on February 25, Officer Kenneth Schaal responded to the area of Cedarbridge Avenue and the Railroad Tracks in reference to a robbery that just occurred.

Upon arrival, he and additional responding Officers located a 51-year-old Lakewood woman who advised she was just robbed of her cellphone and by a friend, identified as 28-year-old Gerard Keller of Brooklyn, New York.

Further investigation revealed, that prior to the event, both parties were having an argument over money the victim allegedly owed the suspect.

According to the victim, Keller struck her in her right eye and took her cellphone. Keller, who was still on scene, was found in possession of her phone.

He was subsequently arrested, charged with Robbery and later transported to the Ocean County Jail.
