The driver who struck and seriously injured a pedestrian last night in Lakewood, was charged with drunk driving, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old from Lakewood, remained at the scene and was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Detective Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith said.

The investigation is on going and additional charges are pending.
