LPD: Cleaning Lady Stole Rings, Pawned them at Local Shops

pawnA cleaning lady in Lakewood was charged after stealing jewelry from at least one home and then pawning them at local shops, Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith says.

On August 3rd, a resident of School Garden Street responded to police headquarters to report that several pieces of jewelry were possibly stolen by her cleaning lady, known to her only as “Maria”. The victim stated that after the woman left she realized that three gold rings were missing.

“Further investigation conducted by Det. Michael Cavallo resulted in the identification of “Maria” as 32 year old Maria Perez Campos of Ocean Avenue in Lakewood,” says Staffordsmith.

Det. Cavallo was able to recover one of the rings at a local jewelry store in Lakewood, where she had allegedly pawned them.

“As a result, on August 10th, Det. Cavallo and Officer Nathaniel Reyes located Ms. Campos on School Garden Street as she was going from house to house as a house keeper.”

Further investigation resulted in the recovery of the two other rings from a pawn shop in Howell Township.

Maria Perez-Campos was charged with Theft and sent to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

While the Officers were placing her in custody, another neighboring resident observed it and decided to check for her jewelry as well. She then discovered that her wedding band was missing and alerted the police. That is still under investigation.

The attached picture was also located at a local pawn shop, and police are trying to determine if it was stolen from a local home. If it belongs to you, phone police at 732-363-0200 extension 5318.

Although I have minimal cleaning help I don’t judge people that have full time help. ARE YOU LIVING OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES AND KNOW IF THEY ARE MANAGING OR NOT?! please mind your own business and don’t judge others

  2. None of these cleaning ladies are vaccinated. Imagine them folding your babies laundry and straightening out the sheet and blanket in your newborns crib… All this after going to the bathroom and blowing her nose. Where are all the panic stricken people worried about the measles?!?
Ever walk in to your local fast food place (or high end catere) and observe some illegal – who has never heard of vaccines – put his hand up to his elbow in the huge bowl mixing the delicious Cole slaw you are enjoying at the fancy wedding/bar mitzva/dinner of some high falutin hot shot.
This is not just about some rings being stolen, these people are a real health hazard. Our doctors and schools should stop persecuting and hounding people who have high standards of hygiene, but have not vaccinated in lockstep with the all knowing infallible CDC. We should have a Kol Koreh threatening with excommunication and expulsion any caterer, restaurant, and even individual homes that do not get health and vaccination records of their help staff.

Oh please!!! I don’t judge anyone and honestly couldn’t care less!! however its annoying to be reading this all the time. Don’t hire them and problem solve.

REALLY?! Keep out of other people’s lives. It’s really nice to know you have the time and ability to clean and keep your home neat and tidy. Unfortunately, not everyone has the ability and time to do it on their own.
