Charges are pending West Gate’s stabbing incident, police said today.
“On Saturday at approximately 9:50pm, Officer Micelle Banuelos was dispatched to Kingsfield drive after we received a call reporting a fight involving approximately 7 juvenile males,” police stated. “The caller also stated that at least one of the assailants was armed with pepper spray and a knife.”
Police added, “as officers were responding to the scene, a juvenile male called and stated that he was involved in the altercation and that he was hiding in a nearby basement with a stab wound to his leg. Upon arrival, he was transport to a hospital for treatment. A second victim was identified but was already transported to a local hospital prior to our arrival. Neither injury was serious and both are expected to make a full recovery.”
A suspect in the case has been identified and charges are pending approval from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office later this week, police said.

absolutely not!! these kids have been terrorizing westgate for the past few months and now are claiming self defense because they know there is no way out of this one! these kids are violent punks who need to be taken away before someone is killed!
The ridiculous and offensive ‘self defense’ argument falsely portrays the teens who carried machetes, BB guns and pepper spray as good little boys who never did anything wrong. Those teen hoodlums are guilty of frequent auto theft, vandalism and terror, and invited the anger of helpless victims. Don’t portray the villains as victims! Nobody buys that baloney. Those who try that argument are intensifying the feelings of people like me who want to rip the dangerous teen perpetrators from amongst us and drag them to prisons.
There was no FIGHT, per se. These 2 young adults were VICTIMS of a bunch of hooligans who have been terrorizing Westgate for the longest time and NOTHING has been done against them, other than slaps on the wrist.
