An Officer enforcing parking, has just issued summonses to several vehicles illegally parked in the Fire Lane at BMG. So once again, unless your vehicle is a fire truck responding to a fire, parking in a fire lane is illegal and can prevent emergency personnel’s access to the scene in the event of a fire. TLS-60

Wow how can people just not are for the law and park there? It’s mamish a sakana that if c/v there is a fire that the fire trucks would not be able to park close enough and people can get seriously injured or killed. Don’t think that I’ll just run out side when the alarm goes off and move my car, it wont happen, there will be 1000 yungerlight storming out and you will not be able to move your car!!! Or you will be blocked by a fire truck trying to get in to put out the fire. Dose any one know how much the fine for parking in a fire lane is?
Why doesn’t BMG build there own parking lots. Every collage has parking (besides for ones in the city) but then again we do not live in a city. I live near 14th and forest and I can not stand these people parking in front of my house!! If you buy a building get parking for it!!! Do you have any idea how many times my driveway was blocked, if any of them park illegally they deserve FAT tickets!!
KEEP IT UP PD U CANT JUST PARK WHERE U WANT
“these people”?
People “like you” don’t belong in Lakewood.
Lakewood is a developing city without any growth planning or proper infrastructure development and it is not for the faint of heart.
If you can’t take the parking move to Boise, IA where nobody will park in front of your house.
to #4 really! “People like you don’t belong in Lakewood”.
what are you saying? it’s OK for people to block other peoples driveways, because they don’t want to walk to an extra block or two or (three) to seder? If a person can’t take the parking he should move to Boise? Why should he, maybe that person wants to live in Lakewood Ihr Hatorah, but expects Bnei Torah to act with a modicum of mentchlichkeit. for instance not blocking his driveway. Not everything becomes mutar in the pursuit of facilitating Torah. If Reb aron didn’t want to build torah with treyfah gelt (I refer to several bavuste maysahs) then he would have certainly objected to Torah being built on Gnevah or even Abizrayhu D’gnevah, yes that would be blocking someone’s driveway. I say to number #2 please stay in Lakewood, the parking Matzav shouldn’t scare you away, and neither should overly protective hotheads like #4. But have a little rachmunus, maybe you shouldn’t wish for FAT tickets especially because there really are not enough parking lots, but I totally understand your frustration.
To #4
Most people understand why they can’t park ina fire lane; well a driveway is a homeowners fire lane. If he has to rush out of his house for any reason and someone is blocking his driveway what is he supposed to do? Run into the Beis Medrash and pull the fire alarm?!
Puh-leaze!
Why does Tls feel the need to give us yungerleit mussar shmuesen about where and how to park? I enjoy reading the news, but I don’t think its your place to give mussar. We b”h have a few mashgichim in BMG to do that. Please stick to the news aspect of a story next time and stop insukting bnei torah who might have a cheshbon of how they park that you aren’t aware of.
What a Chillul Hashem for cars to be illegally parked by Yeshiva – time and time again!
What a Chillul Hashem for us to complain about being ticked for parking illegally, too!
Maybe Steve Langert should tell people that the culture here in America is not to ignore parking and safety laws
living close to a shul has our driveway blocked on a regular basis. we have tried cones [which were run over],signs and putting trash cans [people just move them.] no.9 wait till you need to go somewhere important and be stuck in your driveway! keep writing those tickets lpd!!
Thanks lkwd pd pls keep it up
If they block my driveway I will issue a citizens complaint against then no matter who they are. Farteck
The next time someone parks in front (or blocking it in any way) of your driveway, refer them to this law. Do not Park (N.J.S.A. 39:4-138): In front of a public or private driveway
I hope Yoshon” is being sarcastic. If not, well that thing on top of your shoulders may be a bit old too!
Thank you LPD!!
It is such a nuisance to have your driveway blocked, & when you try to tell people off, they just give you attitude!
For people who’s driveways are always being blocked, I have an excellent idea for you: Why don’t you put up a sign saying it’s a tow-away zone? Next time someone blocks your driveway to run into BMG, just call All-The-Way Towing and have them tow their vehicle away, at the owner’s expense!
Yes, it’s rather cruel, but nothing drives the message home like a hole in someone’s pocket.
And #7, obviously the mashgichim aren’t giving you guys enough mussar, or it’s simply not penetrating!
#7 r u crazy how dare u lash out ap tls but he’s a mentch he print your stupid comment anyway ! I hate tickets who doesnt ! BUT never will I block driveway that’s not yours and the homeowner could have driver 70 miles from NY -isn’t he entitled to his own spot when he gets home and not have it blocked by some moron.
What a chillul hashem!!!!!!!!
just tow them away and then maybe they will get the point!
Lakewood Police keep up the good work. Clear a path for those firetrucks.
Why is it everyones business about the fire lanes in BMG? Unless you learn there its not your business and “number 16” who is talking about blocking driveways? Last I checked this story is about the fire lanes in BMG. If you don’t learn there its not your place to comment on where yungerliet can park in their yeshiva. I don’t hang around your house complaining if you park nicely and I don’t check anyones office to see if police are giving tickets. Why does everyone have to give musser to yungerliet about how they park in their own yeshiva? Is it entertaining? Maybe you should follow around all those ladies on cell phones almost running over people and report about the tickets they get. Leave us alone please. I don’t give you speeches about every little thing you do that’s not 100% perfect don’t pick on usm especially when it doesn’t affect you in any way. Thanks for your understanding. And tizku lemitzvos.
2.
SLASH THEIR TIRES and leave a note about it. They wont park there again.

does your mashgiach know that you are on the internet at 1206 pm on a sunday? perhaps you do need mussar.
to LPD. why are you ticketing??. its quite obvious to every that tickets arent solving the issue at hand . you need to tow them and hopefully that should hit home. Same applies to places like westgate where there is officially on one side parking but people just dont care , causing a major accident to happen as well as slowing down ambulances and emt personal . when will this town learn that blocking an ambullanc and fire trucks are considered rodfim. as rav kanievsky if you think im rediculous!
how come men will walk across town on shabbos whether to daven or eat a meal, but cannot park legally to walk to learn. why is that? just think about it:
drive to learn following all state laws
park legally and walk to learn
make your important calls while walking on the sidewalk
hmmmm almost sounds ideal right.
Yoshon – I sure hope you’re not a student at BMG. You are not exactly a very good example of the school. Last I heard, it was a man who caused the latest accident, not a woman.
It is everyone’s business because if the police are not able to get to a fire that could possibly spread to others not in the yeshiva.
lets see LPD don’t ticket first aid members going to first aid calls, don’t ticket cars for parking in fire zones, don’t pull people over for talking on their cell phones, don’t ticket or pull people over for speeding, don’t arrest people for leaving their children behind in hot or cold cars, don’t…..hmmm hey don’t bother coming to work, take the day off go to the beach, amusement park or sports event with friends and family becuase the citizens of lakewood don’t want you to prtotect them, family members and guests coming into Lakewood. Is this what everyone is trying to say that our Police Dept. shouldn’t do their jobs, because that what it sounds like.
All I got to say is GOOD JOB LPD keep up the good work
to yoshon says:
if its reported here then anyone has the right to leave a comment, who are you to decide who can and who cannot voice their concern.
remember Freedom of Speech???????????
Well its freedom of parking! Unless it affects you! Sorry but this is absurd! Can’t you leave us yungerleit alone?
If u need a spot come early but don’t park illegal and expect to get away with it !
Yoshon, what a closed minded individual. Freedom of Parking? What part of the Constitution covers that Freedom? Oh, that’s right, the laws of the United States don’t apply to you. If you don’t want to obey OUR Laws, you can leave.
Yoshon: “Sorry but this is absurd! Can’t you leave us yungerleit alone?”
You sound like your talking to a school-yard bully…
Grow up man! understand that laws and rules are not made by bullies who enjoy making YOU follow THEIR rules, laws are made by people who are smart enough to understand that if not made & enforced, PEOPLE COULD DIE!
If the fire trucks cant get in, and the building is one fire- PEOPLE COULD DIE!!
PS: I’ll tell you what yoshon, the cry babies & whiny little brats that some of you folks are, YOU ARE LUCKY you are not in the Israeli army. Little whiny people who dont like following rules/laws WOULD NEVER MAKE IT AMONGST REAL MEN/SOLDIERS.
to Well its freedom of parking! Unless it affects you! Sorry but this is absurd! Can’t you leave us yungerleit alone?
SORRY YOU ARE WRONG have every right to leave my thoughts here This ia America in case you forgot
to yoshon: I left my comment because I thought I was communicating with a reasonable person who would soon see the shortsightedness of his statements. For you to continue prattling on this way is embarrassing to say the least, and is becoming more and more disturbing with each passing comment. But if you really feel that you are correct and wish to continue defending, each increasingly insane comment, then please leave the Yungerleit out of it. Do not lump your selfish self, together with Hamon Am of fantastic Bnei Torah who learn in BMG or any other of Lakewood’s fine Torah establishments.
All your learning is useless if you continue to make a chilul hashem b’farhesyo. BLocking emergency lanes shows your disregard for a civilized society and creates a terrific and horrendous chilul hashem. Get up and move your cars out of the emergency lanes.
Yoshon:
In response to your query “Why does Tls feel the need to give us yungerleit mussar shmuesen about where and how to park?” I submit the followng:
You purport to be a talmid in yeshiva, so likely have heard that “ayzeh hu chacham halomed mikol adam” (who is wise, one who learns from everyone). If so, you would understand that the correct response to this article and subsequent comments is not to ask “Why…?” but to say “Thank you for the advice and constructive criticism.”
It’s clear that in Lakewood, parking courtesy is lacking. My suggestion is to think of all public areas as if they were your home/neighborhood, and act in them as you would at home (consider it a derivative of “V’Ahavta l’re’acha kamocha – love others as yourself – something else that you likely learned in yeshiva).
Everyone should know you don’t park blocking fire lanes..Not at BMG not at Shoprite, Not anyplace in town. You will be subject to tickets & fines or worse..if you block a fire hydrant you may come out and find a hose thrown across your vehicle with a fire truck on the other side..then what will you do.Who can you blame..NO one..but yourself. Its a simple rule..Yellow, Red, Blue or any other color curbs..DO NOT Park in front of them..they are colored for a reason
