The Lakewood Police Department has added new officers to the Community Affairs and Traffic Safety divisions, Police Chief Rob Lawson tells TLS.
Officer Sean Doyle, a 17 ½ year Lakewood Police Officer has been assigned as a Community Resource Officer, replacing retired officer Peter Vogel, and joining officer Kenneth Burdge.
The duties involve enforcing quality of life issues, including dealing with the Inspection and other Township departments.
Officer Doyle was credited last year for saving a young boy’s life.
Officer Dennis Dowden, a 9 ½ year Lakewood Police Officer, has joined the Traffic Safety division, joining Sergeants Frank Work, Sergeant Bill Butterworth, Officer Erik Menck and Officer David Silberstien.
Their duties involve investigating serious accidents, coordinating large events and more.
Officer Dowden also graduated from motorcycle school, making him the third certified motor officer for Lakewood – after Sergeant Work and Officer Menck.

Congrats to both Officers. Sean Doyle is a great choice for a Community Resource Officer, always professional and a pleasure to deal with.
I don’t know Officer Dowden (yet), but under the guidance of Sgt. Work and his crew , I’m sure he’ll be a fine addition to their Division
