This Sunday, an informative meeting will be held in the Lakewood Courtyard at 2:30p.m for all those who would like to learn how to file for a $25 dollar tax appeal, which can result in a settlement and major reduction in property taxes. Being that the town is doing a reassessment for 2010, if you were to file with a professional in 2009, besides costing you near $500, any reduction will be either erased next year or could have been gotten anyways. Being that there are thousands of people filing for appeals, the town will want to come to a settlement. If you don’t appeal, and rateables go up, you may be paying double. (Higher rates plus for your higher property value). The deadline to file is April 1st.
