Craig Theibault, a fixture in the Lakewood community, has died following a battle with cancer.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the Township honored Craig with the creation of the Theibault Family Garden at Pine Park.
Senator Bob Singer shared the following statement with TLS:
It is with great sadness that Lakewood lost one of its favorite sons this past weekend, Craig Theibault.
The Theibault family has been a mainstay in Lakewood for over 70 years. I had the pleasure of serving on the Lakewood Planning Board with his father, Joe Joe, where his input was always for the quality of life in our community.
Craig carried on this tradition by serving as Chairman of the Shade Tree Commission for many years, keeping Lakewood clean; President of the Lakewood Republican Club; a member of the Blackhawks Service Organization that donates to many local charities, as well as the Treasurer of the Lakewood MUA where he served as a commissioner for over 25 years.
Craig and his wife Gina were truly dedicated to Lakewood and gave back to our community in many ways. His loss is not just a loss to his family, but a loss to the heritage of our community. People like Craig are irreplaceable in his caring and concern for the wellbeing of the people of Lakewood.
As a dear friend, I can tell you that he made everyone smile, made sure that disagreements were settled and always tried to do the right thing.
Though all of us are saddened, we take comfort in knowing that Craig is in a better place and that he will always be looking down on Lakewood making sure we do the right thing.
I will miss you, my friend.
Bob Singer

I think that I shall never see
A soul as rooted, wild and free-
A man who gave his time, his hands,
to life his kin and shape this land.
He loved with grace, worked true and wide,
And kept his family by his side.
Now he returns to Earth and sky,
But lives wherever branches rise high.
Chase, love you guys so much.
Craig was truly one of Lakewood’s finest citizens . He will be dearly missed . Condolences to the Theibault families.
