Longtime Lakewood Municipal Prosecutor and lawyer Bobby Rothstein dies

Longtime Lakewood Municipal Prosecutor and attorney Robert (Bobby) Rothstein has died.

Rothstein, 72 of Wall passed away at his home on Friday, February 8, surrounded by family.

Robert was born and raised in Lakewood. He attended Lakewood High School and was a graduate of The Hun School, Princeton, received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Syracuse University, graduated from Brooklyn Law School and received his doctorate from NYU. Robert was a partner at his own law firm for 45 years, Rothstein, Mandell, Stohm and Halm, which was started by Robert’s father Edward Rothstein. He was a member of the Blackhawks, Elks and Rotary. Robert loved to play tennis, basketball and enjoyed working out in the gym at the Atlantic Club.

Robert was predeceased by his parents Edward and Gloria Rothstein. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Laura (nee Bruno) Rothstein of Wall; his  children; daughters Jill Rothstein of Point Pleasant and Alicia Borelli-Rothstein and her fiance’ Danilo Garcia of Wall; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Alexandra Borelli of Aberdeen, NJ. Robert is also survived by his grandchildren Jaxson and Cole.

“The job of Municipal Prosecutor is not easy, Bobby Rothstein served the community with distinction,” said current Lakewood Prosecutor Ian Goldman. “I would like to honor his work and service to the community. I wish his family well, may he rest in peace.”

A funeral service will be held 7 pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Orender Family Home.
