bus trying to passAnd again. Photo taken of a School Bus attempting to squeeze between two vehicles in a development this morning. The bus driver waited for approximatley 5 minutes until the driver was located and the vehicle was moved. At least one Bus company has ordered its drivers to avoid certain developments, after the streets were impassable due to vehicles parked on both sides of the road.

  1. If the road is impassable on any given day, no one is going to begrudge the bus company from skipping a stop. on the other hand, if a bus company makes the choice in advance to avoid certain developments because they are often to congested to pass, the bus company needs to be replaced.

  2. as a local driver let me tell you what i had to squeez through this morning, on my right i had a big van wich i had to fold in his mirror on my left i had a small car i had between myself and the van anout 1/2 inch and on my left between my self and the car about 1/4 of an inch B”H i made it. let me just tell you one thing in NYC the price to park a car is about $.25 per 15 min, in lakewood the price might be your mirror, when you park think and think again do you want to get a new mirror or walk a block and park like a mench, (even the 2 minutes you went to grab you kid from the baby sitter)

  3. Why can’t the children walk to either the enterance to the development (or in larger developments to the main street in that development). We got so used to having the bus stop at our front door. But with all the developments going up – this may be coming to an end.

  4. Speaking of busses, I think a tremendous amount of the Route 9 congestion woul be alleviated if the routes were adjusted such that there were no pickups/dropoffs on Route 9 proper.

  5. The streets are impassible due to the Dept. of public works doing a appalling job! In my development the simply passed through once at the beginning of the storm and NEVER plowed the sides of the streets. They have created a dangerous situation. We need a thorough investigation and some management people must be replaced!

  6. When I was a boy back in the 1900’s I used to walk to school in the snow. My freinds took the bus with their bus passes. Ah, I remember when……………

  7. can’t get through, does that mean an ambulance or one of those big firetrucks can’t get through either? I guess they can wait the five minutes for you to stop at the babysitters also. After all, it’s not your house going up in flames or a friend or neighbor sick.

  8. Well, what did the zoning commission think when they approved these ridicuously narrow streets? Aaah, I forgot, zoning laws do not apply to all people. Only to the little guys who are building one little house. Others are above the law. And then we wonder why Lakewood looks like it does. (and just wait – 30 years from now-if Moshiach is not here yet – all these devlopements will look like total slums!)

as a matter of fact it does mean the fire truck can’t get through and in places like west gate and forest park circle even whens theres no snow we might not be able to get through!, when the fire department complained about the developments being built and builders not building the streets to the proper widths and not prohibiting parking on both sides we were told “Buy smaller trucks”, well i can tell you a pickup truck with a water tank in the bed isn’t going to put out a fire in these multi-unit homes that are all connected, and the town can’t put up or enforce no parking signs in private developments, yet they can pick up their trash and maintain their streets, theres a problem there

  10. why can’t the township put up and enforce “no parking signs” in developments? if fact, i think we need a lot of signs such as:

    speed limit postings
    sharp turn ahead
    children at play

  11. Well, If they would’ve plowed like mentschen, we wouldn’t have such issues! And why do they think they can get away with not plowing a development like brookhill?

our children cant walk to the entrance or whatever in my development because, and im NOT kidding, 7 families in our neighborhood out of 120, shoveled their properties!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont understand. i know its hard work, but i did it. my kids helped, and its great exercise too. we own beautiful size homes with huge properties and part of owning a home in such a place is to shovel what belongs to you. you know how many kids had (and still have to) walk to the corner in the street!??!
do we realize how unsafe it is? i mean were all busy complaining about how the township did such a horrible job on our streets, no offense you guys, but you all (-7) did a horrible (no) job on your sidewalks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
