Local Group Sends Message To UEZ Ahead Of New Chairman Appointment: No Operating In The Shadows

UEZ meeting LDC_wmThe following, shared with TLS, is an excerpt of a letter written to a member of the UEZ, by a local group: “I am sending this letter in an effort to avoid another public spectacle. With the majority of our Kehillah members voting for Christie I think it sends a strong message about the feelings they have about taxes and corruption. While I am dedicated to working on lowering taxes wherever our help is needed, we are becoming increasingly aware of all different kinds of shenanigans that go on in this town. The LDC,  has operated in the shadows for too long.

As seen with the BOE, when a public board works in the shadows, the taxpayers and residents get hurt. Only when the spotlight is focused on them will there be accountability.

After speaking to many merchants who are part of the UEZ, we found almost all feel that they receive nothing tangible from the LDC. While $23  million was spent on the Blue Claws Stadium, a debatable decision, it has finally been paid down. We are now looking at a minimum of $2.5 million dollars per year excess, that can either be spent to help the town, or to help the few connected individuals”.

  1. I think every phone call, email, bank record and peice of mail of the UEZ should have to be posted on TLS! If all is kosher then there should be nothing to hide. Hershel lets go. Get it done

  2. I feel that this post is also kind of shadowy. I’m not sure what it’s talking about at all. I’m not privvy to the inside workings of this town. If you have somethng to say, say it outright. Don’t talk in a “shadowy” way about “Shadowy” doings in this town.

  3. “A Golus Yid” is right, the author should say what’s on his mind, it’s useless just to vaguely imply something. If nothing was done wrong, then don’t just throw out baseless accusations.

  4. LETS HAVE THE UEZ PUT THEYRE FINANCIALS ON LAKEWOOD SCOOP AND LET THEM HEAR FROM THE TAXPAYERS HOW TO HELP LAKEWOOD !! DO WE NEED THE BLUE CLAWS? WHAT DOES IT BRING TO THIS TOWN? DO WE NEED JOB LINKS BUSES? WHAT DOES THE TOWN BENEFIT ? DO WE NEED THE STRAND THEATRE? WHAT DOES THE TOWN BENEFIT? LETS HEAR FROM OUR UEZ!!!

  5. How can we operate and help people if whatever we do is exposed? its brought down in halacha the best way to help people is in a quiet way! please let us continue our avodas hashem

  6. Avodas HaShem is not self indulging. That is what the “Shadows ” are talking about. We have a new Mayor. Believe me he is not doing it for the money ( not at this level). There have been millions of dollars made in this town. Many a real estate transaction and other business opportunities have transpired in the past that may not have passed scrutiny. Lakewood needs to grow financially and spiritually. Many a person claims to do things “al Kiddush HaShem”. Let us show the world how given the opportunity we can live “derech yeshara” . We can be the “light unto the nations. Then may be the Mashiach will lead us home.

  7. #11 surely you are kidding? To say its ok to operate a public interest group whos entrusted in making sound decisions for our towns future financial growth in secreacy. Is stupid! Most on that LDC & UEZ board (pay2play) this is people w/personal agendas. Whether it be that they have a genuine interest to promoting a healthier financial future for the town. Or whether for having an ax to grind towards a group who shunned them at one time. Or for their own future financial prosperity interest. There are to many variables that can be used incorrectly when we allow these offices to operate unchecked in secreacy. I for one would be seriously interested in knowing these boards war plans for defining our towns future growth. And why and where our monies are being invested and why decisions are being pondered upon before being implemented. Its a public concern. Not a private service matter. These are good reasons why there needz to be transparency within our towns political public activities.
