Authorities in Ocean County are searching for a male who robbed a Wells Fargo bank yesterday.
On Tuesday, at approximately 4:35 pm hours, the Manchester Township Police Department received a hold-up alarm from the Wells Fargo Bank located at 501 Route 530 in the Whiting section of the Township.
While enroute to the bank, responding officers learned that a male subject had entered the establishment, demanded money, and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, fled the bank on foot. The officers were told that no weapon was displayed and that no force was used by the suspect during the robbery.
Numerous officers, who immediately responded to the area, cordoned off the bank and ensured that everyone was safe inside. A search of the area was immediately begun, and included searches using police K-9s as well as the department’s drone. These searches were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6’ tall, with an average build. He was said to be wearing a black mask, black gloves, sunglasses, a black baseball capand a dark colored sweatshirt.
Assisting at the scene were crime scene detectives and sheriff’s officers from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office as well as Special Agents from the FBI’s Red Bank office. The robbery is being investigated by Detective Richard Jupinkaof the department’s Investigations Bureau with the assistance of Special Agents from the FBI.
It is requested that those who live in the area of the bank review their home surveillance systems between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM to see if they may have captured the suspect passing by their property. Additionally, the Manchester Township Police Department is requesting that anyone with information regarding this robbery contact the departmentat 732-657-6111.

I don’t understand. Shouldn’t there be an emergency button that the teller can hit when someone walks in with a mask? Then by the time he is about to drive away secutlrity or police can stop him, or at least chase him. To call 911 after he’s driven away is not helpful. Why can’t they use the face mask as a clue to activate a response the second he walks in?

But for all intent and purpose police officers are not always sitting across the street or even in the general area. Most towns have minimal staff on during certain times of the days and if there is an overlap for services some officers may be coming from a distance depending on the town they are serving. Hitting that button doesn’t get the officers there sooner, Many towns do not monitor Bank alarms or Panic buttons at the tellers desk. It is routed through an alarm company that calls in the alert.
Id like to know why do they give anything to someone who asks for money he obviously has no weapon so tell him to take a hike
