The Lakewood Fire Department says today is their final day of Summer fire safety presentations for Lakewood’s children. The presentations provide safety tips from firefighters and give children an opportunity to view the squad’s fire trucks and various pieces of emergency equipment.
The final presentation will be held today between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM, at Station 64, located on Monmouth Avenue and 1st Street. No appointments are necessary.
Can someone who has gone before please describe what they do? Do they let the kids explore the fire trucks? Is it hands on or just speeches? Would a 2 year old enjoy it? And lastly, I’m assuming it’s free? Thanks!
Yes its FREE.
Thank you LFD!! How old is this presentation for? Only older kids? Would my 7 and 5 year old daughters enjoy? My 2 year old son?
first of all if you just want to see the trucks and not speak to the firefighters you can.
what the FF were doing was showing the kids and adults some of the equipment they use. they also explain to the kids about fire saftey and how not to be afraid of the FF when they are geared up. One of the FF gets into full gear and get down to there level to speak to them.
Than they let them see the truck with some of the other FF, and explained to them and the parents what each item on the truck is for.
Over 2000 children came this summer.
lets all be safe and never play with fire.
Children of all ages came and even the parents had a good time.
