Dear Editor: Veteran’s Day takes on a special significance this year as we mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the Vietnam War.
I ask all of our residents to join with the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders to remember all those who have served.
More than 12 million Americans answered our nation’s call and fought in World War II. Today, less than 1 million of these brave men and women are still with us.
We also remember and thank our Vietnam War veterans for their efforts to bring freedom to the people of that nation. Our men and women fought with the valiant hope that others could be free.
Many of our Ocean County communities will be commemorating Veteran’s Day with parades and other ceremonies. A full list of events is available at the Ocean County Homepage at http://www.co.ocean.nj.us.
Ocean County is home to more veterans than any other county in New Jersey and it is our great privilege to say thank you to all of those who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.
