Letter: This shook me

I just wanted to share something that I heard last night.

I was listening to an interview with an emergency room nurse. The interviewer asked the nurse how the health care workers are preparing for the very real possibility that they may contract the virus.

Her response really shook me.

She said they are all preparing videos and composing letters to share with their spouses, their children, and their grandchildren. They know that if they need to be hospitalized, nobody will be allowed to accompany them. Nobody will be allowed to visit them. If their situation becomes critical, they will never be able to say goodbye to anyone!

All of our heroic heath care workers may be more exposed than the rest of us, but as long as this is spreading in our community, we are all at risk. We need to make sure that we understand the dangers and consequences. All of us that are home now with our families need to appreciate the opportunity that we have to spend time together. We need to make sure to give our families and especially our children the attention and reassurance they need in these confusing times. We need to keep davening for all those that are being affected throughout the world. And we need to make sure that we are doing all the necessary Histadlus to make sure that we, our children, our families, and our community are safe!

May Hashem end this terrible machla and bring Moshiach Tzidkaynu B’mhayra B’yameinu.

  1. And for all those that decide that “it’s not a big deal, I want to make my simcha/gathering anyway”, these are the people YOU are putting at risk with your selfish desires.
