Letter: They are there for us, we should be there for them

Dear readers,

In Lakewood we are uniquely blessed with an abundance of talmidei chachamim who are not official rabbonim.

We all use them to drop off questions at their homes, bring them to our houses to help with mezuzah & kitchen issues, and call them and approach them at all hours of the day and night with various halachah, hashkafah & guidance questions.

We should remember that most of them receive no compensation for all their time and effort! They are selflessly giving away their precious time to benefit us! And more so, we are often taking them away from their precious family time.

As we prepare our mishloach manos and gifts to distribute this purim, we must keep these talmidei chachamim and their families in mind! Let us show them and their families how much we appreciate everything they do for us. A respectable gift with a warm note of appreciation goes a long way.

They are there for us. We should be there for them.

Thank you.

  1. I agree 100% with this letter writer however why is it that we always gets these requests for rabanim (both official ones and also unofficial as this letter ) what about all those people that are here for us 24 hrs 7 days a week???
Hatzallah bikur cholim and many many more?????!!!!
Then there are also others like those helping mishpachos make weddings . The list goes on & on . This town is bli ayin harah full of so much chesed in any way that one can think off. Why aren’t there letters for them?
I’m not one of them but I do ask this to hear answers

  2. The big organizations have a campaigns constantly… Many opportunities to give! However these rabonim who don’t work for big organizations get left out.

On another note, it’s nice to think of other people such as the administrators and Cooks, etc in your children’s School, who don’t get the bi- yearly recognition like the teachers and principal s, if at all!
