To Lakewood residents,
I wanted people to be aware that JCPL, and especially their foreman (I think his name is Quinn), really went out of their way today to help minimize, as much as possible, the disruptions from a necessary power outage in the James St./ Cross St. area.
Yes, shutting power down in the middle of the day, especially with schools involved, is very annoying, but people should realize first of all how hard these people work all the time to accommodate our needs. They spend hours and hours figuring out the best way to get these jobs done while minimize the disruptions, and always do their utmost to help new schools etc. get power (in addition to dealing with all those downed poles in the middle of all the traffic).
So, while there are a lot of people that were inconvenienced today, I want them to know that there were people working around the clock doing everything they can to make it as smooth as possible under the circumstances.
Yes, we all have ideas… do it at night… do it on weekends etc etc.. but JCPL is overloaded as it is, and the people in the field don’t get to decide when to do these jobs. All they can do is work hard to make it work best with the jobs they are given., and they should be made aware that we appreciate all their efforts.

I don’t understand why Lakewood police was not at intersections, directing traffic during the outage. Was the Township people notified about this outage?
Beatiful letter, very true.
There was a lot of pressure put on Jcpl yesterday from the local politicians to minimize the shutoff time and they agreed to bring extra crews and not shut off for
5 hours , but only fir 1.5 hours .
Quinn is the best! Thank you for all your hard work!

still wondering why so many street lights are still out? I’ve reported some over 6 months ago!
Word has it that when your neighbor saw the reading on his meter was twice as high as it normally is, he called JCP&L and complimented them for getting the electricity to work at twice the usual power and strength.
“My meter is showing that the electrical current on my block is incredibly powerful right now!” he told JCP&L. “According to the incredibly high reading on my meter right now, the electrical current appears to be working at twice the usual force and power! I’m impressed and incredibly thankful! I’d like to give the foreman a $100 restaurant gift card as a token of my appreciation!”
“I’m sorry,” the customer rep reportedly told your neighbor, “but the foreman just spent $100 in lunch money that he received from a customer on a 12 course lunch, and his stomach is busting at the seams right now. He told the boss that his stomach is in terrible shape, and that he won’t be able to show up to work for at least 2 weeks, or until his stomach cramps subside. The boss is furious! “No more lunch-money gifts from the customers!” the boss announced to the entire crew today. The boss warned the foreman that, in the future, if he accepts any more lunch money from the customers, he will be permanently relieved of his job.”
“So, I can’t allow the foreman to accept your restaurant gift card,” the customer rep reportedly told your neighbor. “Sorry, but you’ll have to give the restaurant gift card and the stomach ache to someone else.”
Why do comments that are (beyond) obviously a joke (& clearly in good fun) get posted then taken down later?
I enjoy them & I’m sure others do as well
