To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing with regard to a comment I saw on a news-related Instagram feed for my Ocean County, NJ community called @TheLakewoodScoop.
Yesterday, Nov 14, that news feed posted some reporting from the recent march for Israel in Washington, DC, including video of several Orthodox Jews from this area. The comments were upsetting.
One comment especially concerned me, though, as the name was familiar.
I’ve attached screen shots of a comment by the Instagram handle @missarph, insinuating that Jews kill children.
It took me all of five minutes to ID that commenter as Maya Aly Samady, or Maya Issa, a pharmacist at the CVS in Brick, NJ.
I was, of course, alarmed that someone responsible for dispensing life-saving medicines to the community, many of whom are Orthodox Jews, would engage in such hate speech.
I felt duty-bound to flag this for the safety of the residents here. I can’t imagine customers of CVS would feel secure getting their medications here. I certainly would not, and will no longer be filling my subscriptions here.
I will be sure to share with my network.
The regional manager for CVS in Ocean and Monmouth county is Michele Becker
And then I would cc the head of northeast comms Tara Burke
