Letter: Local Amazon sellers

Dear Lakewood Scoop, I have an idea that I believe you can bring to fruition.

It goes as follows, we use Amazon a lot and I know a lot of people in Lakewood do as well. Also my wife and I know quite a few people that sell products on Amazon. When I go shopping on Amazon I just buy the first product that matches what I am looking for.

However, if I would have a list of all the Lakewood Jewish sellers I would see if they are selling the same or similar product competitively priced. If you could ask for sellers to give you their amazon name and what they specialize in, and then make a list with that. I think a lot of people would use that list. Obviously the sellers are not relying on only Jewish buyers, but it can be a plus for them and help them with their Parnassa.

Sincerely,

(TLS welcomes your letters by submitting them to [email protected])

  1. We sell Plastic Garbage bags, As well as Tablecloths on amazon and our website. However we do offer special codes and rates on plasticmill.com to lakewood residents due to savings on shipping. Just contact us.

  2. Reason 1) people work hard to find a “good” product, giving away your names opens you up to more competition as people will realize it’s a good product and you will lose your niche or upper hand in a certain category

Reason 2) The difference in sales won’t be that large to open up to having every second person telling you how you should or shouldn’t run your business /product

Reason 3) if it’s much cheaper elsewhere buy it elsewhere

Reason 4) your not benefiting the sellers enough and for the few people that will do the research each time they buy to compare to the lose isn’t worth it. Besides people spend thousands of dollars to “pop up” in the first line or advertisement. And Putting a focus on that will get the seller a lot further

Having said that I do appreciate the thought and good meaning of your letter

  3. Not happening. No Amazon seller is freely giving out free information.

Letting others know what you sell, is asking for competition.

  4. I agree, as a consumer I would certainly patronize a local seller over a random one, all things being equal.
For some reason, amazon sellers are very secretive, though, so I don’t think a list like that will happen.

**off to check out the seller who outed themselves & possibly place an order…

  5. The point of the letter writer seems to be those interested in being patronized can join the list.
They dont have to give their personal info.
For ex, the scoop can post the list of just names of frum sellers just under their store name that want the sales and let ppl patronize them when they see them in the seller list. Its not a matter of stealing ideas. If you are afraid of that then dont list yourself.

  6. Not a good idea.
    Many reasons.

    To the tune of;

“Never sell a car to someone you know”

    Happy intentions though
